Don't really see why Limerick's squad would not follow suit. The situation at the club is a mess, Joe Gamble is the latest departure from the set-up.

I tend to agree, but weren't Bray signing players last month? Footballers ain't bright (UCD aside ). If this helps save them from themselves, I'm all in favour

Does the ban extend to players signed on an amateur basis?

To be fair players with no other options might take it up. registration ban stops both players and club from digging deeper

As far as I know amateur players must be registered (the only part the FAI play in transfers) so it should cover them - however counter productive that might seem.

    More ****e from Limerick http://www.limerickfc.ie/limerick-fc...t-17-july-2018

Limerick players vote for strike action and 30 mins later we get this PR job. The running of the club is going great, the fans didn't bother turning up, the players didn't turn up for a meeting, bad man McGuinness is leading them to revolt, it is not the FAI's fault etc etc....

Limerick quietly kicked out of the Scottish Cup too I see, so Pat's next in the hot seat.

The thing for me about that statement is that even if every word of that statement was true and relevant - and it's certainly not all relevant - it just sounds so cliched in this day and age that you're better off shutting your mouth

St Pats players are meeting with the PFAI tomorrow to discuss strike action after they were told that the club cannot guarantee that they wont have to play in the Irn Bru Cup this season.

The club can't guarantee the wages and their word is dirt on such matters. Players should just leave.

Didn't Pats players threaten a strike before a European game a few years ago? So this time of year is the strike season alright. As I recall the Pats players were being paid according to their contract, but they wanted extra money because they unexpectedly advanced a round in Europe. It is a shambles indeed the league of Ireland. Solidarity with the players if they are forced to play in the Irn Bru Cup.

Are the Limerick players paid or not now by the way? The statement says "The issue was resolved today (Tuesday, July 17, 2018)", but it seems a bit harsh in that instance to give Limerick the same sanctions as they gave Bray, who definitely haven't paid the back-pay.

Based on the statement the players have been paid but the club can't give a 100% guarantee that they will be paid on time for the next pay day. Only one home match in a month probably one of the main reasons for that.

In saying that the statement from Limerick is ridiculous and the return one from the PFAI makes Limericks look even worse.

Why they couldn't have just said the club is broke at the moment, we are trying our hardest to get money in to make sure everyone gets paid but we can't 100% guarantee payment on time. We are greatful for the players continued effort on the pitch despite this difficult time for the club. We hope to have a resolution as soon as possible.

There is a massive whiff of don't blame us anyway, we did everything we could, it's someone else's fault.

The club has priors when it comes to ridiculously bombastic statements, but they're usually aimed as the supporters (this one is too, to an extent).

I just don't see how this ends. Will they be able to afford the Market's Field next season? Would it be better for the all-amateur outfit we're going to end being to play in Jackman (or Hogan)?

In terms of promotion/relegation, licensing will be under much harsher scrutiny next season, and proper order if Limerick are refused a Premier one. Better Drogheda or Finn Harps get a spot than this carry on.

I would suggest that anyone who works in the private sector can never have a 100% guarantee that they will be paid on time next pay day. Not 100%. Think the players/PFAI shot their load a little early on this one.

Limerick strike vote does seem a bit dramatic IF they were paid yesterday but the club has previous and given the continuing fiasco at Bray players may have over reacted. it is possible that the 'resolution' reached didn't cover full payment of money owed and the players are laying down a marker to ensure the club abides by the agreed 'resolution'
