stupid at this stage. why should everyone be forced to observe a holiday that applies to one faith let pubs open if they want, and let people drink if they want

I think Eanna, its down to the fact that we are still very much considered to be all of the Roman Catholic way. Its clearly not true, but its still the predominate one in society in Ireland so that is why I guess.

Personally I am about a religious as a tree stump. But well I am a minority so you gotta go with the majority decision.

People are quite willing to enjoy the benefits of religious holidays(days off work) but when it affects there "civil liberties" i.e getting a pint, they give out stink. Typical.

Not my point at all. My point is it should be down to the individual pub owner and the individual customer to make these decisions, not the state. That doesn't just go for pub closing times either, its all part of this thing the government have where they like telling people what to do

The members clubs in Limerick open for 3 hours after 5pm, but seem to cannily stage it between them that lets say, one opens from 5-8, one close by will open from 8-11, so you can carry on with your session...and I'm sure a few sneaky taps on windows will miraculously involve side doors opening etc...

Its so bloody antiquated. If you want to drink, then you're going to, come what may. Same on Christmas morning. Just abolish the stupid rule ffs...

Yes but a lot of the people in the country are off on Good Friday and they want something to do so they just think about going to the pub
