    pre-season

Skerries are 5th in LSL Div 1, should beat them no problem but it will be a good physical test for some of the younger players in the squad.

Sunday's friendly will be our first pre season match, less than 2 weeks away from the start of the season. I know players must work on their physical fitness before the start of the season but it takes 3 -4 games for players to reach their match fitness. According to today's Bray People other games are in the pipeline. Kilkenny, Limerick & Dundalk were mentioned as possible opponents but we might end up playing too many games in a short space of time before we start against St. Pat's on 18th March.

I think fitness is our main aim at this stage, last season was a different kettle of fish, we were playing against teams much worse off than use most of the time, this season we are playing with the big boys. The squad needs to be in top physical condition when the league kicks off. As the devo says in the BP, a lot of preperation has gone into this, the 1st time this has happened. To many matches can disturpt this kind of prep work. Hopefully well have it spot on for the opening game

    pre-season

Physical training is fine but all the training in the world won't bring the squad match fitness and sharpness. The boys need to be playing regular games to gel together and also to help Devo know his best starting lineup for the first league game. The first four / five games are vital for us.

Thumbs up Off to a winning start

Bray's senior and under-21 squads both won their friendly matches today, against Skerries Town and the Wexford & District Youth League respectively - and by the same scoreline.

A flurry of goals just before the break left the seniors ahead with a half-time scoreline of 1-2, which remained the same until the final whistle.

Kevin Grogan and Jody Lynch were on the mark for Wanderers within a minute of each other after Skerries' Martin Beggs had put the home side ahead.

In Gorey, Eamon Zayed's penalty put the visitors ahead on the half-hour, and their lead was doubled within ten minutes by Billy Manley. Synnott got one back midway through the second half for the hosts, but that was as far as their recovery went.

Bray will host a team from the US at 7pm in the Carlisle Grounds tomorrow night (Monday 7 March), and Kildare County are due to visit next Sunday 13 March, with a kickoff at 1pm.
