    from the fai website

    Galway top of First Division

    Monaghan United 1-3 Galway United
    Quinn 90 ....................Moran 56, 76
    .................................Williamson 77

Two goals from Barry Moran ensured Galway take an early lead at the top of the First Division table after this emphatic win at Century Homes Park.

Both sides had chances in a tight first half but Galway took command once Moran put them in front in controversial circumstances on 56 minutes.

Monaghan felt that Moran’s header from Ronan Frawley’s cross hadn’t crossed the line, but Moate referee Tony Kelly gave the goal.

To add injury to insult, Monaghan lost keeper Robbie Horgan following the incident.

Moran added his and Galway’s second goal on 76 minutes when he all too easily shot past replacement keeper Vladimir Munteanu.

Munteanu then failed to cut out a cross from Colin Fortune to give Kevin Williamson an easy third goal for Galway to seal their win a minute later.

Ciaran Quinn scored from a stoppage time free-kick for Monaghan’s consolation.

nice to see you all down at CHP.

It was a very enjoyable game. The first goal was a bit chancy, but at the same time ye would have been raging if it hadnt been given. Horgan going off was a huge blow. Muntanu had an absolute nightmare in goal when he came on. Up to that it was a pretty entertaining tie with chances at either end.

Firsdt half Galway had a few pretty clear cut chances but strikers were rusty, Your midfield was good and your no.3 had a good game so the sub Phillips. Second half control was exerted and the late consolation was little more, a well taken free kick that probably might have been saved if it was 0 - 0 at the time.

Looking ofrward to a trip to Galway in the summer. In the mean time good luck. We're all of to Limerick.... All 4 of us
