Paddy and Shamie Coad played together for the Blues too.
Think we have this one alright BM.
Tom, John and Alf Hale were Waterford's first trio of brothers to play in the same game, a Shield defeat at Bohemians in September 1934. The first League game was a draw with Cork at the Mardyke that December, and indeed they often did form the entire half-back line.
Alf had four sons who played for the Blues: George, Dixie, Alfie and Harry. Mainly due to Alfie and Dixie spending so much time abroad, the four brothers were never even in the same squad as far as I can make out, and even three of the four playing together was rare enough due to Harry being very much on the fringe of the side until the early 60s. The first time three did line out in the League was when George, Dixie and Alfie played in only Alfie's second game, a draw with Evergreen at Turner's Cross in March 1957.
The Fitzgeralds, though, left them all standing. SIX brothers played for the Blues at one time - Tom, Jack, Denny, Ned, Peter and Paul, and they set what must surely be the record of having FOUR brothers (Tom, Jack, Denny & Ned) start a League game in a 3-2 win over Shamrock Rovers on April 9 1953.

Gear stuff. The four Brennans have certainly played at last once in the same game at the same time (Rovers v Drogheda) , don't know if they were ever together at Drogs though.

Barry and David Ryan were Limerick's two goalkeepers at one point.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Forgive the bump, just recently came across another game that adds slightly to this record.
March 29 1964, an appalling season spluttered towards it's sorry end with the Blues beaten 2-0 at home by Limerick. In the starting line-up once again were four of the Fitzgerald brothers, Denny, Jack, Peter and Paul this time, and also a late replacement for Shamy Casey at right full back, Liam O'Shea, a nephew of the four brothers.
Also, Liam was 15 and a half years old and still at school at the time, a good shout for Waterford's youngest ever player I'd have said, though that's another thread I know.
