Bigger tv money plus opportunity to get some corporates in for a dinner and ticket combo to make extra money.....extra pitchside advertising plus good incentive to get your existing sponsors to think that money spent on loi isn't completely for charity and a waste of time.
Here's the thing though. Two huge errors nfor the first two aside we were on that tie. The third came because we were chasing it.
Delaney clearly wasn't fit, after about 75 mins he was seriously puffing. Cork were good but lost the rag in the last 15-20 mins. I think the scoreline didn't reflect the reality of the game, but that said I thought LOI teams had breached that gap in the last quarter, especially to a side who had just come out of pre-season(first league game played before the 2nd home leg).
There's definitely been enough on show from the sides this year to see that they can hold ball well and play decent football against better opposition.

.Caulfield wants Turner's Cross to host possible Celtic tie
Cork City manager John Caulfield would prefer his side's home European ties to remain in Turner's Cross even if they wound up in a possible glamour tie against Celtic in the next round of the Europa League

He is absolutely right. Maintain the maximum advantage possible
It would be a sight hard to stomach to have thousands of Paddys shouting for the foreign team (and not being even the slightest bit embarrassed about it)
We apparently sold close to 3k tickets for the third round last night during our game against Derry. There were non stop queues right through the game. I missed Delaneys goal as I saw the queues had died down so ran down quickly to grab some for my group.
Given that Rosenborg just scraped past Valur of Iceland with a 94th minute penalty I'd be amazed if they even come close to beating Celtic.
Rosenborg are a good team, but Cork should have absolutely no fear of them if they end up playing them. Last year they needed their goalkeeper to make a brilliant save to deny McMillan and a another save to tip a Kilduff strike on to the bar in extra-time to prevent them from being dumped out.
Rosenborg are currently 2nd in the Norwegian table, and the 3rd place team (Molde) lost to bloody Glenavon a few weeks ago. They gave them a bit of a thumping in the 2ng leg out in Norway, but still, Glenavon!
And Rovers proved last week that Irish sides can mix it with the top Scandanavian teams no problem. All it takes is belief, and cut out the brain-fart mistakes that seem to dog us in Europe so often.
I don't think they did give them a thumping. It was 3-1 going into injury time - Glenavon must have been pressing for a second goal which would have sent them through, and got caught on the break (twice, admittedly). It's easy done, and changes a one-goal game going into injury time into what seems like a 5-1 hammering.
Last time Rovers tried that on the "Shedboys" from Oriel, they all entered the ground at the same time and climbed over the netting until it was down!
Just a thought for our trip in a number of weeks.
Hope its Rosenborg you play, as I could see you giving them a game (cant even remember if they took any fans to oriel last year bar a few in the stand)
I can't see Rosenberg coming within a couple of goals of Celtic and will be punting accordingly. The Scottish premier below Celtic might not be much but Celtics are a decent team. ....who I don't support btw.....paddy power have Celtic 4 to 1 on to qualify. And Rosenberg 8 to 1 to win tommorow

Legia one down at home. Interesting
They are there to be got at. The most frustrating thing is we didn't really do it. Although we had chances in the first leg, we just didn't take them.
