Why would the Waterford crowd be right and the Shels one be wrong? Only posisble if no season ticket holders went to the Waterford game.

Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
I asked Pats' club secretary and he told me they'd counted the number of seats beforehand in case there was any argument over the amount of the gate receipts and they counted 1550 including the directors box. They also counted the blue stand which is where the 853 figure comes from.Originally Posted by sligoman

Yes Terry, everyone who comes to the Showgrounds, leaves with big belly's, small legs and overgrown toenails.Originally Posted by Terry

Wait and see what their website comes up with first - most of the figures come from there.Originally Posted by Terry

The website already says it. 2000 is the figure on it.Originally Posted by pineapple stu

.. is to compare and analyse attendances over this season and last season.
This is the only way we can make an informed opinion as to whether summer football has been a success, whether Friday night is the best night for games, etc.
Its not a "we are bigger than you" thread !!!![]()
If there are 78 people at Terryland next Friday, then the attendance will be reported as 78. Ergo, if there were 1800 people in the Showgrounds last Friday, which is a very good attendance, why not report it as 1800. I don't see the point of artifically inflating, or deflating, attendances.
Neither do I PD, but we dont know the actual attendance that's why I go by whatever goes up on the site so blame the webmasterOriginally Posted by Patrick Dunne

The MC dont count attendances, i dont know why but thats the way it is (they could be still suffering from sticky fingers) or they just couldnt be arsed. Remember the time when we we're in our deepest debt was when we wer rakeing in the cash and wer getting up on 7000 in 94. Something strange about that, but i dont know why we have to try and guesstimate the crowd. Our figures are not to the one and the ten but usually correct if you give or take a hundred.Originally Posted by Patrick Dunne

What kind of tosser are you? All I asked was would this be putting the attendance figures out for all the other matches so as everyone thought that the stand held more people than that !!Originally Posted by Da Real Rover

I agree with Patrick,I don't see the point of artifically inflating, or deflating, attendances.
Its very sad that it turns into the 'we got more then you' rubbish. Also annoying that when official figures are released that they are also questioned as being too lowThe 7000 that turned into 5379 and the number of other games where the official figure came in a lot lower shows that either you are part of the 'we got more then you' group or simply cant tell how many your stadium holds

For the sake of this thread would it not be best to say nothing if you dont have a good idea how many were present ?
Its also strange that the crowds are never under estimated down Turners Cross!! You have by far the best crowds out of everyone so inflating them further really does nobody any good. Some have even stated attendences over the capacity of your stadium![]()
John Delaney!! GET OUT!!!

I couldn't be bother wading back through the thread but while i;m sure someone said 7000 i estimated 6200-6500 or similar myself.
The cross is easy to calculate
Main stand - 1850 (will always have 1500+)
Derrynane opposite camera - 1100 (usually 800+)
Shed - official capacity 1500 but anything from 1000-2000
St Annes End - 3000 capcity but usually hardly to estimate.
Because we have bigger crowds our estimates are out by more.
If i over estimate 5300 to 6500 thats the same as overestimating a 1500 as 1850.
I'm not sure that statment is 100% correct, that the MC dont count attendances. Because our turnstiles are not fitted with counters, it is near impossible to give an absolute accurate figure.Originally Posted by Da Real Rover
My understanding is, and I have asked members of the MC to clarify this situation. They issue a pass to each one entering the ground as they purchase their ticket. This pass is either Adult, student or OAP. This is how they check if the money collected is equal to the amount of passes given.
Season tickets holders, match night sponsors, match night workers, guests, etc. are not given passes, as they have a seperate enterance.
So, the overall attendance is somewhat "guesstimated" as a result.
The new wall and enterances, will have electronic counters on the turnstiles. Until that is complete, we have to accept the official website figure as been as accurate as is presently possible.
