I'd say 3000 is about right. Not having the St. Anne's covered costs us about 1000 peoople every time it rains on match days
    Oh no not them again

How can not having one part of your ground covered cost you 1000 every time it rains?

Theres plenty of covered seats to sit in.

Rain puts people off from coming to games but its got nothing to do with your uncovered seats

Theres actually not plenty of covered seats at Turners Cross. All the covered ones in the main stand are taken up by season tickets and family enclosure all the lower tier of it is exposed to the rain.

The small stand offers very little protection from the rain, especially if there is any element of wind.

People know there will be very little covered seats and dont bother turning up. If they knew they had coverd seats to sit in IMO a lot more would turn up. As opposed to Shels were people just dont bother turning up because it Shels
    Oh no not them again

    Anto,

there was 1800 max in the Jodi for Rovers v Shels. Ive seen the TV pictures and there was huge gaps in the Jodi and Block G was completely blocked off.

What part of "Not having the St. Anne's covered costs us about 1000 peoople every time it rains on match days" don't you understand?
If $hels were ever in a position to draw a crowd big enough to fill Tolka, you might realise that on a rainy night, not too many people would opt for the open terrace behind the goal, and you might realise that if it was covered, more people would have come to the game.
Of course, thats a fantasy situation for you lot, but it's a common occurrence down here.

so what your saying is, while most of the clubs in the league have small group of die hards, corks support is literally a large bunch of fair-weather supporters

I think his point is that there are other seats for them to sit in, though? It's not as if Cork (much as you would have us believe) sell out every game and people sit in the open stand by necessity.

    It's really quite simple.
There are certain games which attract large crowds in Cork.
Games against $hels, and now Setanta games, would be one such fixture.
Given that it was $hels AND the Setanta, a large crowd would be expected. Quite a sizeable number of people would only get their ticket on the night of the game. If it had been a fine night, we would have got a gate of somewhere between 5,000 - 6,000, the usual gate for a $hels game (Go back through the attendances if you want to). But as it was raining, a lot of people would have decided not to go, thinking/knowing that the covered seats and Shed area would have been already filled by people who had already got tickets.

There was a crowd of around 3,500 - 4,000 on Easter Monday, on a sh*tty wet night. IF the night had been fine, at least 1,000, maybe as much as 2,000 more people would have attended the game, but didn't because they would have been sitting/standing in the rain all night.

Nowhere near 300 Derry fans, unless there were more there than the ones who were shown on eL Weekly last night?
    Oh no not them again

there was somewhere between 200-300 Derry fans scattered between blocks A, B and C. Most were in block A but there was quite a few groups of Derry fans in the next 2 blocks.

    About

900 over 250 from Sligo desperate night wettest ever in Terryland. We were crap but Sligo are the best team we have played so far. Major cahnges for Sunday i would say.Just a note the plonker in the league who fixed the 1st set of midweek games on the same night as the champions league q/f's should be shot it probably cost GUFC €7,500 on the gate.

I thought about 250ish so that sounds about right. Partly because of our new and improved for 2005 'wall of noise' crack drumming and percussion team (who would put Stomp to shame), some of the oldies prefer to sit a few blocks away to protect their hearing aids .

Always a pleasure to go to Dalyer, whilst the fans may have a recent rep for turning on their own team, we're always very well received there.

Also, am I the only one that sees the irony of Cork fans accusing others of inflating attendances?

Cork fans NEVER inflate attendance figures.
It's not our fault if the rest of the country cannot count.
