It's part of the licencing laws that accurate figures are returned for each game.
Since Rovers period in Examinership, a new system was introduced to count the attendance. Rovers now give exact and completely accurate attendance figures and usually announce them on the night. This accurate figure includes the season ticket holders, patrons, sponsors and guest list.

No i did not think the new stand held more than that and you can clarify this by looking at my previous attendance figures, in fact i thought it held 50 less. O oh another oops there Terry, let me clarify this your calling me an idiot.

    Not sure about that.

As far as I know clubs are required to send official attendances to the League by half time in each game, presumably by fax, answering machine.

Pete, you don't have to go too far back

a few pages ago you posted this,

City v Shels i'd go for 7000 as very few empty seats &plenty of people standing, shed also had more than official capacity.
then on this page you posted,
I couldn't be bother wading back through the thread but while i;m sure someone said 7000 i estimated 6200-6500 or similar myself.
Unless Im wrong you contradict yourself ? Are you still talking about the Shels game or what. I'm lost at this stage

I just get sick of the over estimated figures for Cork. We know you get good crowds in EL terms so whoever is on here Cork or otherwise thinking they are being smart bumping up figures be aware that it ruins the whole point of the thread.

If someone is not good at estimating figures from grounds it may be best they don't post in this thread.

dont underestimate the chance that the sligo webmaster might be completely useless at estimating crowds

Glad to see you paying attention.

    Main Stand - 1850 (i'll assume that 100% full)
Derrynane - 1100 (i'd got for 900-1000 cos of empty Shels seats)
    St Annes End - 3000 (i'd guess 2500)
    Shed - 1500
Few hundred standing behind St Annes End & in front of the Shed.
Ok i'll revise my figures so can use as gauge going forward.

Will say 1700 from Main Stand.
900 for Derrynane fo empty Shels seats.
Official cacpacity for Shed is conservative 1500 so i'll say 1000 (unrealistic as it is)
St Annes End actually official 2800 seats so make it 2000.

1700+900+1000+2000=5600 which is till think very conservative as Shed looked good 1500.

Is that a gut instinct or have you been to any of our games this season, if not why do you feel its unrealistic.

    Its unrealistic ..

.. because Eircom League crowds don't come in multiples of 1,000.

I believe that the Sligo Rovers webmaster applied for the vacant position as
editor of Pravda, but he was turned down. Not even their readers could believe his figures.

Pete I wasnt at the Cork Shels game so your figures may be correct I do not know ??

There are many posters here who make a guess and then are shown to be way over after an OFFICIAL figure is announced. You seem to have done it again in your most recent re-recalculation

I could not care if your gates were 200 every week or 20,000! Its just nice to get some figures on crowds around the league without the 'we got more then you' .....

As I said I wasnt at the games but is the amount standing around the ground really into the hundreds?? from any TV clips I see there is not many standing but of course there could be areas of the ground unshown on TV. Also the Shed is very small and a figure or 2,000 is way over the top in my opinion. For example what does the stand for away fans hold in Drogheda? That would be a lot bigger then the shed would it not? Even taking the New stand at Tolka it only seats 900! I know you fit more standing but isnt that both longer and much wider then the shed ?

I dont know the answers to the above questions but it appears to me as you and some others are going wrong in your calculations somewhere along the line.

The official safety approved figure for the shed is 1500 but that would be on the conservative side. Drogs away shed has big "steps" which doesn't allow much packing of people. The shed at the cross at big games will be packed so tightly very hard to get out from the middle.

I didn't want to believe it but I think official CCFC attendances low for an unexplained reason.

Very funny, dont make me go over old ground, the management committee dont count ground figures so we must guesstimate them. I think this sums up your bitter, jealous little minds, forever the small club trying to drag us down to your levels. Paraic got the crowd attendance right to within 110 people, so i think he deserves a clap on the back for getting the attendance correct and if it makes you happy we'll take a 1 from the attendances from now on, happy.

    Big steps??
What has that got to do with the amount of people in the stand? Its the same flor area no matter how many steps you have.

Maybe Cork are saying the wrong figures ?? Maybe you all over estimate the crowds?? there is a difference somewhere along the way bu tI do find it hard to believe anywhere near 2000 could fit into the shed. Even from pictures of the Shels game the bit they showed was not overly packed.

There's no way 2,000 is getting into the shed, just no way. Like Higgins said, 900 or so is the seated capacity of the Drumcondra End in Tolka, and that's bigger. Now obviously terrace holds alot more but not that much more.

the management committee dont count ground figures so we must guesstimate them.
If they don't their in violation of the licenceing regulations. I'm sure they do but simply don't publish them.

Counted 890 at kick-off between Shels and UCD in Tolka tonight. Being generous, 1000 overall including late-comers, I'd say.

I was going to post somewhere around 800 to maybe 900

Fair play to you if you went counting !!
Maybe counting the few standing around it could have been 1000 but thats the max.

For the 1000 that did turn up I think they got value for money. Shels for me played well and knocked it about on the ground really well at times. A small bit of shels from last season All we need now is to sort out Rogers and Hawkins!

    Galway v Kildare

    Attendance 457.

Approx. two hundred down from last home match. Just shows how a couple of defeats can affect the attendance.
