    Driving to finn harps

could mods make a sticky please

is there any people out there that are driving to the harps game(DAY TRIP)

maybe they could leave names here and any spaces in car

im sure people would like to travel and would have no hesitation in paying petrol fees

If anyone does have a space in their car for one small 'un could they give me a shout?

I'm willing to share petrol costs - obviously!

    Cheers!

It would make sense that "small 'uns" as you say would get priority here - plenty of room in the boot

It doesn't make sense to drive for 6 hours, watch a football match and then drive for 6 hours again. The overnight trip is the only way to go.

Agreed. It's madness to try and do it in the one day. In a car your talking 7 hours each way and on a bus it's at least 8 hours. You've got to do an overnighter.

just to let people know in case they're interested.

The Ireland Wales rugby game is on at 3.30 on saturday 19th so if you want to see you might want to factor that it to departure times.

We're hoping to leave around 8 and be in Ballybofey to watch it.

I am living in fermoy and according to www.theaa.ie route planner it takes 5hrs 43 min via thurles and athlone.
    6hrs 09 min via Dublin m50 & M1

At least you wont be stuck behind tractors on the Dublin option.

I don't think i'd go with Dublin route. I've heard road not so great from the pale taking 3.5 to 4.5 hours.

As someone who did Donegal to Cobh (thank god, no Colemans this year) and back in the same day (in the back of a Caddy van most of the way) the one day option is possible but not recommended. Also went to the X for that midweek cup replay couple years back and home that night.

Also, going via Dublin is a lot longer IMO, the road from Galway to Sligo and on to from Donegal Twn to Ballybofey is much improved in recent years and you should make it in 6 hours that way.

My buddy is from ballybofey, he lives down here. Anytime he goes home he's never done it quicker than 7 hours and thats without stopping, and hes by no means a slow driver.

Madness for one person to do that much driving in one day, its dangerous.
Better option if people were to do a 1 day trip would be to share the driving.

But any reputable coach company will be using two drivers. I don't think it's very legal, or safe, to use just one driver for a twenty hour day. Do you?!

Neither do I, that would be insane.
The thing to do is drive up on Saturday morning, lodge in a B+B overnight and drive back Sunday morning.
