The 4g is going on the main pitch.

Mickey Collins told me at the Galway game. (The Athlone coach not the other one)

Like some sort of off season type thing?

If they were doing it during the off-season that'd be fair enough, but doesn't match up to this:

They’re pulling out of LOI and going back to LSL and winter football.

LSL is making a pitch for a summer season (and I understand that essentially all football in Ireland will be summer by 2020 or so, per FAI diktat - although that information may be out of date).

Also, the LSL policy has been to admit new members (mostly migrating from AUL or UCFL) no higher the Sunday Major 1 division, i.e. the second highest junior division and the sixth tier overall. This in turn has made it very hard for clubs bobbling around near the top of the junior section to survive and thrive, so I would expect any effort to parachute even an LOI club in at intermediate level would be met with resistance.

Listening to the 98fm pod it does seem athlone want to replace their main pitch with a 4g. Apparently it was one of the demands Roddy made before going to Derry they just couldn’t afford it at the time

For the avoidance of doubt I wasn’t being serious but that is interesting, genuinely. Particularly that the FAI have plans to push everyone to summer football.

its going on the main pitch, but it wont be happened anytime soon as the high court case is going to appeal or a retrial (not 100% sure yet). Alot of dodgy goings on with the original case.

Presumably someone didn't like some of the comments, though I didn't see anything I thought was libelous.

Their 12 months ban must be nearing its end now anyway. But I guess if their appeal was successful, they would try and look for compensation or something like that.
