    League of Ireland Mascot Race

    Hi all

I've been looking to do a charity event for my late Mom who passed because of Cancer. I've finally hit upon one.

I pitched the idea of a first ever League of Ireland Mascot Race to the FAI. Thankfully they love the idea.
What I proposed was to run the race at Half-Time during the 2018 FAI Cup Final at the Aviva.
Baring poor weather (they don't want the pitch tore up) and clearing with a sponsor or two , they have agreed to this.
The idea is a mascot from a current (or even past) LOI team who be charged a small free for entry and would be given a sponsorship card for them to hopefully fill.
I'm hoping to get a bookmaker involved (Ladbrokes are a current FAI sponsor) but if not maybe Paddy Power , so people can bet on the race.
I've no idea how much this would raise. I'm hoping maybe €5,000 but any money would help. All monies would go towards the Irish Cancer Charity or similar.
I'm also hoping to get inflatable obstacles for the mascots to jump - hopefully some company would sponsor that. It's a long way off but I do need to put the wheels in motion.
I've already had Bray Wanderers, Shamrock Rovers, Cork City, Limerick FC, Waterford, Longford, Drogheda United Galway United all up to running it but with 15 or so mascots I'd be hoping to get as many as possible.
So if you know a mascot at your club (or in recent past) that may be interested please get in contact with me here or at writerbk@gmail.com
If the cup final didnt work out there is option of an Irish international or similar profile of match. Fair dues to the FAI for taking interest in this and wanting to help.
We also have interest from former clubs like Kildare County and such.

    Kind Regards
    Brian

Not a chance of Lily the Panda winning.

We haven't had a mascot in a hell of a long time so surprised by this!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

There was a competition in 2014 for a new mascot. This is best can find http://www.derrycityfc.net/2015/06/w...t-competition/ or do image search for 2014 Derry city FC mascot.

Had the greyhound and hare at most home games, must have been 2015 season.

Is be quite certain that the hare is slower than the greyhound in that case.

Well if Lily The Panda was still Dundalk's mascot that would be great. Martin I know there's a couple of lads trying to sort out a Longford Town mascot for the day.
