    Cobh Ramblers

Draw a reasonable result in Ferrycarrig tonight as both sides scored very early on, but then couldn’t add another to snatch the three points. Wexford started with Kealan, AJ, Sean, Ross, John, Mark, Crokey, Hopper, Dean, Owen and with Aaron up front. Cobh scored with their first attack on five minutes when Wexford couldn’t clear the ball out of their own box and McAlavey drilled the ball home to give Gaffney no chance in the Wexford goal. However, Wexford equalised on seven minutes when Paul Hunt in the Cobh goal kicked the ball directly from akick-out to Aaron Dobbs who was standing about 25 yards out from goal, and Dobbs was able to advance and finish past Hunt for 1-1. Wexford then mostly sat deep for the remainder of the half with Cobh not really able to break them down. A few long shots by Cobh never tested Kealan Gaffney in the Wexford goal and it was 1-1 at half-time. Sean Hurley had replaced John Morgan around the 25 minute mark after Morgan seemed to pick up a thigh injury.

Wexford showed more purpose in the second half with Mark Slater showing well down the right wing. However, Cobh also started to shoot closer to Wexford’s goal-frame as the game improved in quality. On 55minutes, Wexford’s Ross Kenny got a yellow for taking down a Cobh attacker on his way through on goal. Best player for Wexford, Aaron Dobbs, then nearly created a goal-chance for Wexford before Slater dispossessed the Cobh full-back and crossed for Dobbs whose first-time volley was just pushed around the post by the diving Paul Hunt. Wexford then nearly scored from the resulting corner after the ball was sent back into the box for the second time. Cobh then tested Gaffney on 78 minutes but Gaffney was able to push a curling effort by Cobh away for a corner and this was followed two minutes later by a low cross by Cobh which was poked wide by another Cobh attacker on the stretch. Dean George then came on for Wexford and nearly scored with his first touch but not enough contact made it an easy save for Hunt. Ross Kenny then headed just over the Cobh cross-bar to leave the game at 1-1 at the end. Best for Wexford were AJ, Ross, Sean Kelly with Aaron Dobbs the best on the night after a hard-working stint up front. Maybe, 150 at the game.

His previous clubs are stated on the website to be Sligo Rovers and the junior Wexford club, Fastnet Rovers, so I presume he's living locally. Playing well for us at the moment.
