Apart from being able to go back a whole lot of steps and where do you stop, what the Waterford bench did initially would be seen at every game, no different from a keeper scrambling for the ball after a goal to delay the restart especially if there is risk of a comeback on. It doesnt very often end up with a melee and 6 red cards shown. As for whom suggested some rascist angle from Caulfield what a load of horsesh1t!!! Dont know why he said he picked up the ball then got pushed, he didnt get a chance. Of course there are people enjoying the amatuer dramatics, scapegoating, and JC landing on his ass (how many Cork fans would honestly deny having a good smirk if it was Stephen Kenny) - I would bet JC is regrets letting that happen more than anything else as as a player he wasnt shy about throwing his weight around although his reputation was to kick and run. When's the disiplinary panel sitting? Tomorrow i'd presume.

If Duffus hadn't scored then Waterford never would have had a league to protect so none of this would have happened. And if he hadn't scored twice against Rovers he may never have had the confidence to score. I think we all know who the real villain is.

    Stephen Bradley.

Can't agree ........if Kenny hadn't been sacked by rovers back in the day then bradser would never have been appointed so the real villain is KENNY. Long ban and a points deduction for dundalk. The cork lads were right JUSTICE FOR JOHN CAULFIELD ......let's protest at abbotstown tommorow

Agreed. Nobody was innocent. The racist angle was indeed mental. That's a real grenade of a post, I'm amazed it hasn't been called out more.

As for SK falling on his ass.....we can only dream

Yeah, the hearing is apparently tomorrow. It'll probably be 3 games for everybody with Hery potentially getting more. Although, at the end of the day, it was handbags.

Agree he was always the type to kick and run- same tactic employed last Friday as it was notable how he slinked away once the melee started- as I watched it on Monday couldn’t help but be reminded of Grimer Wormtongue from the book LOTR

This is brilliant, he's not getting stick for not getting involved in the brawl? Quality stuff.

Ah come on it is what did. Maybe some sense was rattled in after the shove, he could have been sore after being put on his ass, worried about what had kicked off and his role in it, or most likely was feeling a bit sheepish after all of these. He did go to physically retrieve the ball, when he was shoved he also got up and walked calm as you like back to towards the dugouts, in a hoping the ref hadnt noticed what had happened way. Is he the type that wouldnt get stuck in to a melee? It is also true that he was seen as a kick and run player by fellow former LoI players never mind fans and the reputation has stuck obviously for those that remember him playing.

He walked away before he was pushed. He clearly realised he'd screwed up going onto the pitch and tried to walk away. He was pushed, and then continued to get out of the poor situation he was in.

I never got to see him as a player, so couldn't comment. But I'm certainly glad he didn't get stuck into the brawl! I would be disgusted with him if he had done. As a manager, he should have walked away. I'm glad he realised that.

Except, as I said, he had started walking away before the push.

Not that I think it matters a tap what reason he walked away, it was the right call. Getting involved in the brawl would have been unacceptable

It just looked to me like Caulfield immediately realised he was in trouble for kinking Hery and acted like the cowardly bully boy who finally met his match so tried to back away and then after being embarrasping lyrics knocked onto his ass decided to hide away.

You can keep saying kicking, and maybe that's what you think kicking is in Limerick? Who knows.

But yes, Caulfield clearly realised he shouldn't have encroached on the pitch, and walked away. I'm impressed that you've picked out the person who wasn't violent as the 'bully' of the incident. And the person who actually got aggressive is just a poor victim? Bizarre to say the least.

Caulfield made the wrong decision initially, in trying to get the ball.

He made the right decision in not getting involved or reacting after being pushed. The fact that you're trying to paint this as a negative is laughable. No doubt if he had reacted and gotten involved in the melee you'd slaughter him for that too.

Blame him for what he did, sure. Trying to insult him for what he didn't do, and not getting involved in the scrap, us silly.

If he was walking away initially he was walking away backwards - its is why he ended up being pushed backwards and on his ass. Prior to the melee (of which JC being pushed is claimed was the actual cause of that) what makes you think that he suddenly came to his senses while in the process of trying to get the ball. As soon as he stood straight after his failED attempt to get the ball he took a couple of steps at most back and then got shoved. What provoked the shove by Hery? When the melee kicked off he then walked quietly toward the bench and watched as Vigaroux walked over to speak to Caulfield. Its at that point he seemed to be in a 'oh sh1t!' mode of thinking.
