Waterford v Rovers - 2378
Don’t have a figure but Ltfc v Wexford was lowest crowd of the season. Didn’t look to be more than 200 there
1040 @ Lims v Waterford
850 was announced at the Bray v Cork game.
Galway United vs Cabinteely 581
Excellent away support from Bohs at Oriel.
Nearer 2,000 at the Derry city v Pats game.
Mark Farren stand was almost full as no one was checking tickets to get access to it.
Yes noticed that, they had a very good turnout on the away terrace and a good few in the stand too, fair play for 7pm on a Sunday.
It might only be less than 50,but I think more were actually at this game (3,139) tonight than the Tallinn or AEK euro games (3,100 restricted capacity)
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).
By chance I just saw an article about average attendances per club so far this year in the Brazilian serie A. I was amazed that some massive clubs there have fairly mediocre attendances. Vasco de Gama -7k. Botafogo about the same. Santos circa 10k. We're talking about super famous clubs here with massive traditions, in hugely populated cities in a soccer obsessed country. Maybe our meagre attendances aren't so terrible after all.
Our attendances are compared to the English game and GAA rather than our contemporaries in Europe. We're roughly on a par with the likes of Serbia, Greece, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Belarus. Generally though, there's one or two teams in those leagues with much higher averages.
We don't do too badly, all being said. The problem though is just facilities here. Our stadiums are so far behind many European leagues.
