    Chiedozie Ogbene M Luton b.1997

Chiedozie Ogbene has signed from Limerick, where he scored 10 goals last season, to Championship club Brentford.

Has he played underage for Ireland? He was born in Nigeria and qualifies for them too. Will be interesting to see how things pan out for him at Brentford, he seems very highly rated.

    Sure everybody knows that

He is highly rated by LOI standards. As I said in the other thread, one of the most exciting players I've seen at Limerick for a while.

What he has at the moment is a lot of pace, but he needs coaching on lots of other aspects of his game - when and where to make runs especially. He has always looked to me like a player that could get a lot better with the right coaching. Hopefully he gets it.

I wonder is Brentford a bit too good a move for him, if you know what I mean, in the same way Brighton was good a move for Towell?

For a fella who left Cork City in search of more game time just a year ago, it seems a massive leap in a short space of time.

I think he's very raw and much younger than Towell. The impression I get is that he has the tools to be class but needs a combination of coaching and hard work.

League One might not have been a bad shout. You could also refer to Daryl Horgan not exactly being a nailed on start for PNE.

Before anyone complains about Ogbene's international allegiances, if he does decide to represent Nigeria, I'll move the thread to the rest of the world section.

Named on the bench for Brentford today against Preston. John Egan starts for Brentford while Greg Cunningham and Alan Browne start for Preston with Daryl Horgan on the bench.

Horgan back out of favour but Cunningham and Browne are still fully in favour there. Would be interesting to see Ogbene get a run so soon. He's so raw it could go incredibly well or incredibly bad.

Ended the season with two appearances, both as a substitute.

Opened the door to involvement with Ireland back in January (although did drop in a dreaded "when the opportunity comes, I would definitely think about it") - has had a loan spell at Exeter this season - https://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/soc...-door-13891037

Dreaded? He's hardly at the top of our priority list for dual national maintenance or recruitment. His perspective has been clear too.

A goal and two assists today. Rotherham supporters are raving about him these days. Unfortunately he's a few months overage for the Under 21s and he has also shown an interest in Nigeria in the past.

Could be a player whose allegiance becomes a story if he continues to develop at his current rate.

With Rotherham top of League One, Stephen Kenny should at least have a chat with him and see how he would feel about a Nations League call-up and at least get him thinking about it.

Made the EFL team of the week, as did Darragh Lenihan.

He should be straight into the squad come September. He offers something different.

Not sure what paperwork needs to filled out. He's never played international football for anyone and he almost certainly has an Irish passport already. But it says in the reports the FAI have started the paperwork.
