From BBC Sport 7 Oct. Rotherham manager Paul Warne confirmed Ogbene (23) had cartilage surgery on Monday, after sustaining an injury in training last week; he is unlikely to play again before January. He had started in Rotherham's first three Championship matches this season, having made 25 appearances during their League One promotion campaign in 2019/20.

Unfortunate. He had started the season well by all accounts.

What do they say about a bad workman?

Change the "show results as" to "Threads" and change the drop down to "Search titles only" and this thread is the only result.

Or you could use the "Irish International Players And Important Thread Links" stickie at the top of the forum which, unsurprisingly, has links to threads for Irish internationals, and other important threads

A little more detail in this output from the same press conference: https://www.the42.ie/article.php?id=5565246

Felt all warm and fuzzy reading it if I'm honest.

: D No no i won't have that, a forum where the players names are paramount to thread titles, surely admins can have default functionality for the main search to go through thread titles first? : P

He's a very likeable lad and was loved at Limerick. Always had a smile on his face and very approachable. Whether it was a photo, autograph or a chat after games. Very determined lad which showed when he left Cork to move to Limerick.

I hope it works out for him but at 24 he'll really need to push on in the next year or two if he wants to be more than a squad option. His pace is definitely something we could benefit from in the squad.

THe fai had a video up about 2 days ago of training and various drills, he stood out albeit was only a 5 minute video, but he looked good. Wonder could he be a surprise selection especially if knight and Idah dont train?

Exactly 24 is not young. He needs to do and show a lot in the next year.

I don't think so as we don't really start with wide players up front and if we did it would more than likely be Connolly and Robinson with Keane central. Also think Horgan would get on before him.

I'd agree he's almost certainly behind Robinson for right forward if we even play three up front. He could be worth a go in the friendly. You never know though, and Kenny has certainly made a few surprise calls over his tenure.

I’d certainly like to see more of him, probably in the friendly realistically. He looked impressive against Hungary, albeit a very brief appearance.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

Just looking at this video from the FAI for Chiedozie Ogbene's goal which shows the celebrations too. Interesting to note he was fairly swarmed by some of the most senior members in the squad. In particular, McClean, Duffy and Hendrick gave him really strong embraces. Looks like almost everyone swarmed him though.

Goes to show that it's not just in the media that he's a popular character. Appears as though he's won over the dressing room too.

He reminds me a bit of Clinton Morrison, a really bubbly character.

The squad seems to be full of big, positive personalities, even the younger guys and the guys with minimal club experience.

That's really important. I listen to Gavin Bazunu speak and think what I was like at his age. I suppose pro football makes you grow up fast, but still...

He actually reminds me a bit of James McClean. In his attitude and how he plays.

Interesting. Was the second game but still, obviously that video was an insight into how hed impressed management. Ill watch them more often : )

And so he did. And did well. Bar the couple of times he lost possession and set Qatar on their way I think he did himself no harm at all to possible up top selection given how average whats come before have been.

The fact that two players have just come out of relative obscurity has made me much more positive for the future. If we could get 2 more in the positions we've all talked about it would be great!

I see what youre saying, but he has a better temperment. If we could harness the Mcclean in him and balance that with the ability to know when to hold and when to attack he'll be a regular.

McClean actually had a couple of good games I think. His footwork and set up for Robinsons first goal In Azerbaijan was better than I thought he was capable of. Hendrick has also been a pleasant surprise over the last two games.

Great play by Ogbene in his last match. Wins the ball on the edge of his box, carries it to the other box and releases it in a move which results in a goal:

Credited with an assist on the winning goal that propelled Rotherham back to the top of the table. Sadlier came on in the second half and Kayode, who hasn't featured at all in recent weeks, came on a minute before the goals: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/59787669
