I'm sure it's old news to most but premier sports showed the Rovers Bohs game on Friday. They offer eir sports 1 as part of their package in NI but the game was on their own main channel so presumably was available in the whole of the UK. I'd be very interested to see the viewing figures for the game across Ireland and the UK now
I don't know if fringe subscription channels like that would register on the viewing stats to be honest. The samples involved are pretty small.
At a guess, they probably attract advertisers on the basis of their subscribers not viewing figures. Not sure if there are any Media Buyers on here who would know more conclusively ?
Longford-Cork cup quarter final taken by RTÉ.
I'd say Longford are less than thrilled, especially as Derry-Bohs was rumoured to be the first preference.
That'll look great on TV..

its the first time RTE have being in CCS/Flancare Park to show a live match since the 2004 FAI Cup semi Final v Drogheda. Setanta and TG4 have come since then to Longford to show live matches but not RTE. 11 long years since Setanta shown the Waterford game in Longford live. Alleulia!
think we will take a hit though!

RTE hoping for a shock?
what makes you think it will be a mediocre crowd ? This is our best form all season and the crowds are increasing with each passing week. theres better connect with the club amongst the local community. Neale Fenn is arguably our best manager since Stephen Kenny we are playing beautiful football.
I am very confident that there will be a lot of local support so dont be jumping to conclusions just because we are out the country. its not very often we are on the telly its our turn now!

It's nothing personal. It's just that Longford's average attendance this season is running at 449 people - ranking 14th out of the league's 20 clubs. I appreciate that that's not a bad crowd for Longford, but that kind of makes the point for me.
It;s got nothing to do with being out the country, and is about your attendances of late instead. Do you genuinely expect the Longford-Cork cup game to attract a bigger crowd than the Derry-Bohs one? Even with the Derry one being rescheduled to probably a week day, I would still expect the crowd to be bigger there.
But TV appearances aren't doled out on a rota basis. First Division clubs are rarely on TV - especially when they're not winning much - so it isn't a big surprise that Longford aren't on the TV much. Neither are Cobh, Athlone, Cabinteely, Wexford etc.
Less than 1,200 fans and a poor uneven spectacle of a game on TV tonight.
I hate to say I told you so, but the Longford tie was a strange choice. The cameras should have gone to Limerick for the fixture there instead IMO.
sure there was sfa of an attendance at Limerick v Dundalk(half 1200) and there would have been even less there if the match had have been on tv!
Lims had a few chances towards the end of the match,Dundalk easing of gas with a 3-0 lead that they easily made 4-0 when Lims got a bit feisty
Is the Bohs v Cork match on the box next Friday.
RTÉ have a loi match pencilled in @ that time next week.
