I presume he wasn't considered for the one earlier this month? MLS still in season.

The one in Bristol yeah his team can stop him from coming over if they wanted to. November would probably be the next one but would assume the friendly in November is gonna be used for preparation against the Dutch a few days later.

Should have at least four friendlies in the first six months of 2024. Not sure if clubs can prevent their players from going to friendlies but he's one of their best players (joint top goal scorer actually with 5 goals) so don't think they'd stand in his way for next year's friendlies if he was called up.

Ive no idea how good Joe is, but I just ran through some of the other all stars profiles on wiki and they are experienced international players
    US, Mexico , Argentina etc

Is there a reason why this guy isnt called up? is he not good enough ? or do we have a guy that isnt being called up becaure he is in the MLS

We cant afford to dismiss players willy nilly!

Are they current internationals or 36 year olds out for a last pay day before retirement? (Genuine question)

    Squad is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_M...ar_Game#Squads
    Pretty broad selection age-wise.

New Zealand match is the final game of the year. Would be good to see some lads like Gallagher or other non capped players get a run out.

Only for the U21s having two rough games in November would love to see Roughan or Furlong if he breaks into the Hull team play against New Zealand. Should be no need to start your strongest XI. A win against New Zealand ain't gonna save your job. Give some fringe youngsters and a couple of new faces a run out. Last time we played them Mick picked:

    ....................O'Hara
    O'Connor Long Clark Williams
    .............Browne Cullen
    ........Byrne Maguire Brady
    ...................Parrott

Hopefully Hallgrimsson will be a bit more open-minded about selecting players playing outside of Britain than previous régimes.

I suspect he will be. Certainly Gallagher and Ronan should be under serious consideration for a squad place, which, you suspect, they haven't been previously.

Kenny played Ronan at u21's so he obviously knew him and didn't think he was up to it at the time. I watch no MLS so haven't a clue if the lads have developed much over there thou, or of the leagues relative strength, but I'd be skeptical it would be Championship level overall, I used to watch it a bit years ago, plenty of good athletes with wildly differing levels of ability throughout the league, what is it like now?

The standard is obviously variable, but other international teams like Sweden, Hungary, Finland and Iceland have no qualms about calling players up from MLS. Scotland had US-based Lewis Morgan in their Euro 2024 panel and are on verge of selecting Ryan Gauld for their next squad, who also plays in the US.

There were seven MLS players at the recent Euros.

Ronan actually was called up by Kenny whilst at St Mirren, who was then quietly forgotten about once he moved to Colorado.

I just think that if you're short in certain areas like we are at fullback and the 6 position, then we should evaluate all our options. Therefore Gallagher and Ronan are worthy of proper consideration.

I'm all for picking players from further afield if they're good enough, but there's absolutely nothing to suggest that Ronan or Gallagher offer anything that would improve our squad.

Ronan had some nice moments at St Mirren, but had plenty of fairly anonymous outings as well. And Gallagher wasn't a regular starter for Aberdeen when he played there a few years back. They're unlikely to have anything worthwhile to offer us, any more than any number of Irish players in League 1, League 2 and Scotland who don't get a look in either.
