Here is the goal itself. Redmond to Obafemi, hopefully that will also be a future thing for Ireland.

With this and with McCarthy back and maybe Rice staying onboard. Hope is a beautiful thing

I wouldn't be keen on Redmond playing for us.

I do see your point and not something I would pursue. But l doubt there’s a forum across the sea with similar sentiments about Rice.
I pity the fool!.... But suggest ways that he might improve himself.

I disagree. I am of the view that the manager goes out and gets the best squad of players that are available to him. Re Redmond himself he is a good player and I would have him no problem. Thiago Motta, Nacer Chadli, Wilfried Zaha, Jermaine Jones, Diego Costa are just some names who have played for an International side before jumping to another. Sure even Alex Bruce did it. Every country uses the rules available to them to better their side.

Wilfried Zaha made his debut against Sweden twice. Its outrageous.

100% agree. I couldn’t care less as long as the player can potentially contribute positively to our national team. The staunch Republican attitude of many supporters bemuses me. We’re living in a much changed world and have an increasingly finite pool of players at international level. Given this paucity of talent, no stone should be left unturned in enquiring about players, without completely going down on both knees of course

Redmond has played for Eng against Germany and actually was on the bench for a competitive game, but was an unused sub. Its not right that he lines up for us.

While we’re on the subject, I assume Mark Noble is still eligible. Even he must now realise he’s not going to get an England cap.

10,000% agree. Most people have voiced that the rules need to change re: Rice and playing a friendly. Redmond played for England in a friendly against Germany...he chose his nationality and all power to him - but now Mr.Redmond, stay there please.

Sorry boys, but I hope he comes on board as we are weak on the right side of midfield.

Not just because I think he would add a lot to our team but also because I’d like to stick to fingers at England and the FA after what those snakes did without Rice. If they want to give it they got to take it also.

John Fallon stating that "it's understood Redmond is amenable to a discussion" doesn't provide much base to this article.

In general I agree, except for the depiction of being staunch republican. I’d see it more as petit nationalism. I heard Gary Breen on the radio spout nonsense (in an english accent) that Redmond wasn’t irish. Quite possibly in the early parts of the 20C, there was a man named Breen who had good reason to question the national credentials of a man named Redmond. It sounded a tad ironic and fanatic to hear it from Breen on Talksport. Also Kilbane is extreme in his opinions vis a vis Rice and I’d presume it would be same re Redmond. I say let the manager do what he sees is his job and we observe and appraise the outcomes.

I'd rather hear someone like Aldridge, Townsend or Houghton give an opinion on the eligibility issue than someone who is tunnel visioned like Kilbane or Breen tbh.

The other thing is, all southgate has to do is call Redmond and say you might still be in my plans son and i think that will be that( even if it's bull)

kilbane and breen want to see comittment thats based on a genuine connection to us and not based on playing for us being a good career move. reasonable stance imo
