ya i'm heading to the quarter finals it should be good crack.

i see ken doherty won a game he might find his form and confidence at last just in time for the world championships. he needs to start winning because he is on course to drop out of top 16.

Can't believe Doherty was beaten so heavily. At least he was beaten by an Irishman. Michael Judge is drawing 3-3 with Stephen Lee atm.

    Ken Doherty 0 - 5 Gerard Greene
    16-52, 3-121 (74), 14-71, 0-76 (75), 29-61

    Stephen Lee 3 - 3 Michael Judge
    (96) 115-0, 31-70 (51), 62-19, 50-43, 14-60 (53), 35-67

Stephen Hendry MBE 4 - 2 Steve Davis OBE
    64-37, 17-63, (71) 71-13, 30-66, 70-2, 65-51

    Matthew Stevens 4 - 1 Ian McCulloch
    46-71, (100) 109-0, 73-15, (77) 82-14, (53) 71-45

    ------
    edit - Judge lost 5-3.

Bloody RTE didn't even let us see Doherty or Judge play.

i would be hoping steve davis to hopefully beat hendry but it is possibly a step too far.
i'd like to see matt stevens win the title. he is a great player sticks to the basics.

He's had a nasty ear infection recently, which won't have helped. A few hammerings with the infection won't help his confidence at all. Think he needs a decent showing in the world championships or he could drop out of the top 16!

Two more competitions left and Ken is in serious trouble of dropping outside the world 16 which is a disaster for a snooker player these days.

That was Ken's first whitewash defeat since 2000.

Dohertt beat Pinches in the first round, who is only one place behind him in the provisionals so theres about 1,000 points gap between the 15th and 17th places. McManus got beaten too tonight which is good for Doherty.

He has another crucial game coming up in the China open. He plays the winner of Quinten Hann and some Chinese fella and Hann isn't far off the top 16. I think he'll survive the boot from the top 16 this season and he better do some serious practicing for next season. Its amazing though, if he wins the World Champs he's back in the top 5.

    Tonights results:

    J White Eng 4-5 D Harold Eng

    B Hawkins Eng 4-5 R O'Sullivan Eng

    M Williams Wal 5-3 A McManus Sco

    P Hunter Eng 2-5 R Milkins Eng

    Greene plays Ronnie tomorrow.

Seems to me it's more when snooker players grow up and get a life that they're form suffer's. They aren't as committed to the hours of practice when they have a missus and kids (don't know why - I mean the rest of us try and escape the missus to go and play snooker, pool etc )....

Bloody audience ruined the last few frames of the final.

I had to just check to see the result. Didn't realise who was in the final but as good a pairing as could get.

Is it just me or has snooker fallen well down the list of sports. Normally i;d at least watch some when on terrestial tv but don't think i watched a minute of snooker in the last week...

Its just you. Nothing has changed for me tbh. Still love the sport.

/edit - btw, Ronnie was losing 68-0 in the last frame and cleared up (taking the first few shots with his left hand) to win 69-68.

Yeah, there was shouting whenever either player got up off his seat. Ignoring the fact that people couldn't hold a cough in while a player was taking a shot there was a few problems with mobile phones. One drunk lad in his 20 fell asleep and his phone went off. It was ringing for ages and eventually he woke up. He forgot how to turn his phone off and wouldn't hand it to the stewards. Two plain clothes detective came in, put handcuff's on and through him out. A load of the fella's seemed to know each other, as he was getting taken out you could hear "Go on Ray!" about 10 times.

The frame had to be abandoned and both players were allowed out of the arena for 5 or so minutes. A few minutes later and another phone rings, that only went off for a few seconds though. Then another lad was caught texting for the 2nd time and the referee had to tell him to turn it off again.

Stevens seemed fine but it was clear that Ronnie wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.

What sort of gobsh!tes do be using mobile phones? Why can't people just turn the effing thing off for a few hours? Tools... Deserves everything they get.
