Now we have a squad finalised we can all pretend to be NOC

This means we can pick out own starting eleven for the Cobh game.

I'll start off the row -

    Noel Mooney

Stephen O'Mahoney, Paul Finnucane, Anthony Woulfe, Paul Tobin

Jamie Nolan, Brendan Hughes, Chris Kearns, Darren Young

    Derek McCarthy, Colin O'Brien.

Subs: Healy, Timmy Lynch, Conor Molan, Frank Browne, Robbie Kelliher

Browne and Molan get in for their versatility.

Haven't seen any newplayers yet but I'd be surprised if Mooney was better than Fyffe. And I hope we have better strikers than CPOB!

    Anyway my team would be:

    Healy

    O'Mahony Finnucane Lynch Aherne

    Nolan Hughes Barrett Molan

    McCarthy Kelliher

Subs: Mooney Woulfe Browne Tobin Young Kearns

Dont know enough about some of the new lads to include them never really rated Woulfe when i saw him with Cobh and I just have a thing about John Healy

It doesn't matter if Fyffe is better than Mooney or vice versa. Fyffe is gone. And we don't have better strikers than Colin P. Whatever about his attitude (and that has been trawled over quite a bit), he is the best striker we have.

LimtilIdie - Healy instead of Mooney? Football fans really are strange creatures.

I didn't know Fyffe has gone. Where to? And we should have got some decent strikers then.

Are you serious? If attitude isn't an integral part of any players game we might as well call back Anton Mannering while we're at it. And David Dunphy too. Can't Pass has plenty of raw talent alright but in a year of football we saw precious little of it.

    My XI would be:

    Mooney

    O'Mahony Barratt Finucane Ahearne

    Nolan Hughes Young Donnellan

    McCarthy Kelleher

Subs: Healy Lynch Molan Kearns O'Brien

It's early days yet though and I wouldn't necessarily stand over that team until I've gotten a better look.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Of course its an integral part. And thats why I thought he stunk last season. But if his attitude is right (i.e. he is up for it) I think he has great ability and promises to be an excellent stiker. I can't wait to be proved right on this one.

    Consistently Poor, Right Attitude?

We football fans are indeed strange creatures

Also John Healy = Class Shot- Stopper, just needs a bit of work elsewhere

McCarthy-Kelliher should be our front two on the opening day of the season, it's not going to happen but still.....can't wait til everyone bar LFC In Exile, JoePartyline, Wille Drew and the mysterious Poll Voters are proven wrong

Look at the number of goals scored by CP O'Brien last year.
Look at the number of goals scored by Derek Mc Carthy the year before.

Even with the variables between season to season it says a lot.

Huh? Derek was playing with Steve O'Flynn and had Heffernan on one wing and Brendan Sweeney winning ball i.e. service. CP was playing with Alan Barry and Liam Costello or even Jimmy Fyffe. The service (?) came from Ebbie Quiqley, Mernagh and Keogh.

Comparing the two seasons is not valid. But we'll see.

Ah yes Steve O'Flynn remember him a player from Cork who actually gave a s**t and tried his heart out, regardless of how the team was getting on. If ever you need proof of what a tosser Consistently Poor was last season just bring Steve O' Flynn into the argument
