    Tough finals. The Dutch scored 34 in the 6 games. Italy, Neth, Eng, Spa, Port, Bel, Fra, all 6/6 in the quals.

    Germany don't look anything special.

    Another bonus is that the four quarter final winners will go to this year's under 17 world cup in Brazil!
    The two best quarter final losers will play off to go as the fifth European team, but I'm not sure how these two teams are determined

    single-leg knockout match between the two best quarter-finalists not progressing
    to the semi-finals. They are determined in application of the following criteria, in
    the order given:
    a. higher position in their group on completion of the group stage;
    b. higher number of points in the group stage;
    c. superior goal difference in the group stage;
    d. higher number of goals scored in the group stage;
    e. higher number of points in the quarter-finals;
    f. superior goal difference in the quarter-finals;
    g. higher number of goals scored in the quarter-finals;
    h. lower disciplinary points total based on yellow and red cards received in the
    group stage and quarter-finals (red card = 3 points, yellow card = 1 point,
    expulsion for two yellow cards in one match = 3 points);
    i. higher position in the qualifying round coefficient ranking list;
    j. drawing of lots.

    The seeding (into pot 1&2) are based on points gained in the elite round, they look skewed with the two top pre-tournament seeded teams,Germany and England, are in pot 2. It would be desirable if Ireland could avoid those heavyweights from pot 2 in the draw for the Finals.

    Don't know the level of these teams but if it were a senior tournament I'd say group C is the only one I'd have rathered.

    Group A was definitely the best group for us, group B and D are just as bad as you could get, group C Russia and Portugal looked pretty even in their qualification group so were also best avoided. Greece and CR wont be easy but are probably some of the better teams we could have got. Bar Iceland there really wasn’t a team you would have wanted in pot 1 but if I was pushed into a decision I probably would have taken Belgium so that probably worked out but again it’s like asking which finger would I want clipped.

    At full strength I think Ireland should be looking to advance but I feel that what happened with the u19s last month will happen and the u17s will be sacrificed so Parrott, Bazunu etc will play a level up.

    Its interesting alright. The timing of the tournament might help to have bazuna and parrott involved been early may. Their is still the chance to be involved in the toulon tournament which is early June if necessary. Its a strong irish squad but those 2 and okoflex would hopefully give us a fighting chance to get out of the group and to beat someone like the dutch or the brits in the quarters

    Where's the confidence on Okoflex coming from Liam?

    Not confident about it unfortunately but ino reason he shouldn't be involved. Was excellent In our victory shield win seemed to enjoy it there hasn't been any talk of some kind of falling out and he hasn't been involved in the last 2 or 3 England squads even though he seemed a starter before that. Been born here living here till 12 playing for Kevin's and now been at Celtic it all seems utterly bizarre if he is not involved.

    Also on a totally mercenary note he obviously could the still switch anyway at a later stage if he really is eligible for england

    One dilemma is if he plays for us in the Euros he then can’t switch back to England otherwise he is committed.

    Yes he could play for us in euros then say switch back to England in a competitive under 19 game and would then be tied to England just like happened with Marcus maguane at Barcelona. Joe hodge grom man city and McCann from man utd will be in similar situation if they play for us in the euros they will still have option to switch to England and be tied to them but I guess that is the same for all lads we bring into our system at the under 17 level

    No okoflex wouldn't be committed to us if he played in a competitive under 19 game unless he plays competitively before this for England at under 17 or under 19 level. Johanson had played competitively for Luxembourg at under 19 level so that's why he is now tied to us if he has submitted his papers to change aliegence
