That all sound sensible to me. a long 36 game season could be v difficult financially for struggling FD clubs.

36 games would be a killer, would mean 4 idweek games, which for any first division club would be difficult. I hope the play-off spots are as reported, at least it gives teams further down the table something to aim for, anything would be better than the season just gone

Play the 'mid week' games on Bank Holidays. Scrap the blank cup weekends. No need for any significant number of midweek games.

Isn't there an agreement with the cup sponsor that no league games can be played on cup weekends??

probably is an agreement but surely to God the sponsors could be asked to "allow" first division games on the same weekend.
Its unlikely to deflect the National medias attention and might actually help the first division to have a weekend to themselves...I know I would probably go to a FD match on a cup weekend.......I have a lot of those weekends free

3 rounds of games and a return of the First Division cup would be nice.
