And a proper mourning period with his father's death. Anyway, if Kerr doesn't come back with the World Cup next year, I'm for having him shot in a car park. No excuses this time.Originally Posted by kerr's tribe
Lying about being fit in Japan when he wasn't let every single one of us down. Just like other members of the party let us down too, like the manager, the captain, the FAI & the boozers. Thank God that all appears to be in the past.
Anyway, I copied the article because I thought a few of his comments were interesting. The acceptance of limited ambition, even 2 years after Saipan, says a lot. And although I think Mick did a lot of good work with players like Cunningham, Breen, Kilbane etc. it's churlish of McAteer to dismiss Kerr's contribution.
BUT...my positive thoughts about McAteer outweigh the negatives by a long way & it's hardly his fault that a drinking culture and a lack of ambition prevailed.

This is the cooooooooooooolest footy forum I've ever seen!
Didn't mind him at all when he played for us, plenty of heart anyway. As a person though, a couple of unsavoury incidents have caused me to have a slight dislike for him.
Jason - the man who scored against the Dutch in Lansdowne in 2001 and who thereby relieved some of the pain of Gelsenkirchen, Orlando and Anfield. Best day ever at Lansdowne - magic.
Thanks Jason (and the one you scored in the Amsterdam Arena was a cracker as well).
