Dan Beya gone from Town, apparently will have trials with a few clubs. Shame clearly a talented young fella but probably not physically ready to break into our first team. Hopefully he can sign for someone where Hel play against grown men every week and develop physically as well as a footballer. Situations like this Really does show the need for a bridge between 19’s and senior team, he’s clearly talented enough but just needs to take another step up before breaking into senior football. Shame.

Yeah I didn’t see anything to suggest he’s retired, just that he’s left LTFC. I believe Havo hasn’t strictly retired either he just wanted to take a break for a while again. He apparently wasn’t too chuffed when the club started wishing him well in his retirement.

In other news Cian Byrne has re-signed and Jamie Hollywood joins from Drogheda.

Has anyone the full list of players signed/re-signed for 2018, hard to keep track. Is Tristan re-signed?

Davy has gone. That’s a sickener I thought he’d stay on. I hope we have a decent replacement lined up.

When I saw he was on holidays I was certain we’d sort it once he arrived back but sadly it had to come to an end, we’ve been absolutely spoilt in all truth. Fitting he went out in a season where he literally took the p1ss out of Athlone. As you said we’d want to have a serious replacement lined up.

Was told today we are very close to signing a player from Pats. Can’t say anymore than that for now but would be an excellent addition (not a striker)

I'm delighted with that actually - he'll be able to ref the games as well the mouthpiece.

    I'm so sad about Davy.

Yeah, sad to see Davy go. A real end of an era feel about it.

If O'Connor and Cowan don't re-sign, then no one will remain from the 2014 league winning squad which is a pity.

Was thinking about this today, obviously would like Davy to have stayed and as you said end of an era but in a way it feels like a totally fresh start under Fenn. Under Cousins we had players who could play completely sh1te every week and never fear losing their position, even last season we seemed to have one or two lads with massive egos for a team struggling in the FD. It’s exciting to see us starting with a clean slate and a manager who will encourage good football, Ive never been as excited for a new season, even when we lost games last season under Fenn we were enjoyable to watch but let’s hope we are enjoying that winning feeling again next year and with 3 play off places available it would be a total failure of a season should we not land that at least

just heard the news about Sully. very sorry to see him go. one of the best strikers I have ever seen play for us. Wonder where he is going to go? Delighted to see Daire Doyle back with us again had a feeling he was going to come back once him and Neale Fenn were doing their summer camps together...

interesting to see who we will get in to replace Sully? hes still young at 30 to possibly retire..

Sully gone to Shels as I'm sure everyone is aware (should I hate him now?). Are they challengers this year, a few of their fans seem to think so?

Pretty much the same squad as last year which is actually a positive imo as we are an entirely new squad and no other FD teams (bar CABO) have anyone signed up yet so the continuation should see them settle early in the season. I was impressed when they beat us at CCS towards the End of the season they were excellent on counter attack, the addition of Sully adds a genuine goal scorer to what looks to be a solid side defensively. I’d definitely expect them to be there abouts

Some interesting quotes from Sully on his move doing the rounds. Mentions changes at LTFC, his work, his personal life and just a general desire to make a change as all contributing to his decision. A reminder that as much as we get invested in our players as they come along they’re really just doing a job at the end of the day and they’re completely entitled to put their own needs and desires first.

From reading those quotes it looks as if Davy made the decision to leave, that’s not to say had we offered him a few pound more he wouldn’t have stayed but I just hope we get a replacement in quickly as some supporters already seem to be getting on Fenn’s back about ‘’letting’’ sully go. I’d fear this being used as a stick against him throughout the season when things aren’t going well.
