Well another Year over what are the highlights ( if any )
Westport - Great team I hope they now build. (and I mean physically here)
Swinford - Thought they were all right perhaps need a bit of belief
Glenhest - Congrats on staying up so long now dont do a BBB on it and go straight down again.
Celtic - Seem to have got the act together perhaps some football on the deck next.
The Boro - Well done need to replace the elder lemons and welcome to the corruption that is the MAFL
The Heane - Same old Same old at least they left their usual collapse until later this Year eh Don
Manulla - Finally ye got the lotto lolly what ye need it for is a different story It would be interesting to see how many of the B team are actual A players
Erris - Still the 2nd best in league form and good football played
S & F - Creak in neck watching ye the Aib cup final if ever played should be dour beyond belief
Ballina - Promise so much deliver so little Still ye play good football
MAFL - Let Celtic B up. I would venture that they would not abuse the rules a la manulla & Westport 'In the Spirit of the game' if I could be so bold as to steal this phrase from our velified Chairman. By the way congrats on presenting the cup to your 'own club' Celtic and then Partry after. Pity you could not present the BIG ONE to the port. Then again football isn't more important than life and death and some people are sensitive , ah bless !

Fahy Rovers Bet Ballyvary 4-0 today at Milebush. Crossmolina drew with Ballyglass which leaves them and us level on points. Play-off for promotion I presume. Anyone with an idea when it might be? Mulranny join Ballyvary in dropping to Division 1 after losing to Achill. Can someone also tell me who exactly is left on the Mayo League committee? It's geting hard to follow at this stage.
I don't think that there was a purge since the fox left. Get your club secretary to contact the league secretary to find out and don't be afraid to ask some hard questions.Originally Posted by FahyForever

has the Mayo league fixtures (youths & junior)??????????????
We have decided to form a new club for entry into next years competition. Any advice on stuff that we should now do to be properly prepared for kick off.
Training? how much? how often? When to start?
Finances? How much will it cost to run the club. One Junior team initially.
Friendlies? With who? insurance needed? Refs?
Colours? Any suggestions?
Discipline? Internal code needed or will league rules do?
Glory hunters? How do you deal with players who do not pass the ball?
Any comments will be appreciated.
Who are "we"?
Can't say yet. Will keep the thread advised as we progress. Any advice. We are no threat to anyone. Small village.
A tentative welcome to our new club .
When our club was formed we had no pitch no money shag all people involved
and now we are firmly established in the super league, and the point!!
Give at a lash what have you to lose it will gain it's own momentum and stop asking/worrying too much just do it and by the way be prepared to put up with some two faced **** from the MAFL - presuming that the revolution does not succeed and that is a high possibility with most clubs sitting on their ass saying all is fine and the blazers/dinosaurs are nice people really !!
Go for it, funds are the only obstacle you will encounter, so get started now with a bit of fundraising and sponsorship. If you need an example of how to do it look at Partry Athletic, what an amazing job done in two short years.
Looking forward to seeing more new teams in league next year.
P.S never mind our friend Mossy he has become bitter and twisted over his many years dealing with the higher brass in the League !!!!
Thanks lads. I think you are saying get on with it. A leap of faith.
Theres a few simple things ye need to get going from the start Sinabhuile. The first is to get someone trustworthy with a head for figures to look after your finances! Have a meeting and get all players interested to attend. Find a place to play (if there is a level pitch in your area, some places have no level pitches!!) and get in touch with the Mayo League. Once you have a committee in place you can get on with training and fundraising. The Mayo League will give you all the info you need really and steer you in the right direction. The main thing in the first year is that you have the players and, more importantly, a few committee members who are dedicated in getting you up and running. The first year will cost ye in the region of 2.000 euro for league entry and registration, with kits, and probably the rental of a pitch, on top of that.
I would say most teams train twice a week, something like Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Fridays if there are a lot of players away midweek. Clubs start their pre-season training at various dates, depending on when they got knocked out of the cups oftentimes! I would recomend a months training before the league starts, at the very least. Friendlies should be arranged with the Mayo League and referees are manditory for all of these. In terms of Discipline and other internal problems, the best bet is to get yourselves a manager who has the respect of the players and is not afraid to lay down the law.
It's surprising how much you will get done in a couple of months . Best of luck.
The Promotional play-off between Fahy Rovers and Crossmolina is on this coming Sunday in Bangor at 12 o clock. Should be worth a look!
Whens the Connaught cup draw.
Je ne sais pas. Ask Noel Kennedy. He has the answer to that question.Originally Posted by The Don
