To be honest I don't know what to think yet wws.
Having spoken to Brian Lennox last night, I respect his decision and understand that there are valid reasons behind it.
However, I still wish Pat Dolan was manager of Cork City FC and think that this is a step backwards.
I just hope that Rico is capable of carrying on the absolutely fantastic job that Dolan did and at the moment I'm not sure if he is.

    Kearney - coming home anyway

Fenn - Dolans signing. Good player, but has yet to really show his worth

Danny Murphy - He contacted City asking for a trial, he wasnt a 'find' of Dolans.

Dan Murray - I think he had more or less agreed to stay with City while Gunther was in Charge

    Gamble - see Kearney

Doyler - Credit to Dolan. best ever City signing IMO.

    -----------------------

Lads, all of this is idle hearsay and counter conjecture. The fact of the matter is, is that none of us know the facts - some may think they do, but apart from the 'inner circle' within the club and possibly OSC, i doubt anyone knows all the facts. We can argue and complain and name call, but its alll useless.

Im sure when the facts actually do surface, we'll all know then who was 'right' and who was 'wrong'.

kearney, would have gone to Bohz, so thank Stephen Kenny for him
    fenn, doesnt get his game
doyler, the only great signing made by Dolan
danny murphy, came to the club off his own back, not by Dolan tracking him
dan murray, I thought was Gunther's signing
joe gamble, would have come to Cork regardless

    Youre forgetting
    Lopez,
    Nwanko
    Casey
    Hedderman
and probably others that were so forgettable I cant remember them

The best singings in this teams have been made by Gunther & credit Lennox with coughing up the cash to keep those players when they became stars.
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.

    Agreed

There should be an interview or two in the Echo.
Surely they've been on to Lennox.

What time is that out about?
    2?
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

which is why until i hear anything to the contrary I am going to focus 100% on supporting Cork City Football Club, its players, backroom staff and everyone involved.

Lads it was mentioned before the season in only weeks away, lets try and unite and get behind the team who will still need the support of the best group of fans in the country. anything other then this will only hand $h€l$ the advantage

At no point did I disparage any of the players, they are the spine of the team, and are very good players.

    my take on these players

kearney-when it looked as if he mightnt get a look in,nwanko got injured and kearney never looked back.forced his way into irish u-21s. made the postion his own. not bad for a player coming back anyway

fenn- bit unlucky to be dropped in a shake-up. immense for us in europe

Danny Murphy-might have contacted city but dolan didnt have to look at him or take him. only lost his place cos of suspension. not bad for a player looking fo a trial

    Dan Murray--wont comment

Gamble-coming home anyway but had other options in EL. doaln showed him his best option was city. came in at the start of our amazing run

    doyler-agreed

seems like all good signings to me

I'm 100% behind Lennox on this one. If I were to choose between 'buying a league title tomorrow and spending loads of cash' or 'this club still being in business in 5 years time' then I would have to choose the latter.

Although I have huge respect for Dolan and what he has done for the club (good run in europe, 2nd in the league) I disagree with those who are under the impression that he dragged us up from nowhere.

Dave Barry tried his best to win the league and after a few good seasons decided to give someone else a go.

Derek Mountfield fell out with the players

    Colm Murphy

Liam Murphy - I thought did a decent enough job and like Dave Barry couldn't deliver the league and stepped aside.

In other words, Dolan didn't deliver anymore (except a good euro run) than Barry or Gunther and he shouldn't be talked up too much.

I don't think Gary was saying anything negative about these players but merely saying they 'may' have signed for CCFC regardless of who was in charge. Bar Doyle of course.

Still no trophies though. Look I'm not saying he is not better or worse than any of these managers. And maybe in time he 'might' have won trophies. But I'd have been a lot more upset if he won back to back league titles and got to the 3rd qualifying round of the CL. Imagine if you were a Shels fan and Fenlon got the sack in similar circumstances - then I'd be annoyed!

I'm in agreement with you there. Nobody wants to see these players leave and it is worrying. Also worrying is George and JOF, two other players who came out in the papers about the facilities and who are more than likely behind Dolan on this. The new manager will have to talk to all these players and convince them that staying with CCFC is the way to go. He will have to be a great man manager. I think Lennox should explain himself to the players as well. If he hasn't done so already.

I support Lennox on this one.
Haven't been sure about Dolan for months...too much chatter and talk for my liking.

I couldn't imagine it either. But if we were, their support would have doubled . I too think Dolan could have won the league with CCFC. But whats done is done. The new manager, whoever it will be, better deliver fast because I'm not too keen on hearing about another 3 year plan. I want a one year plan this season. The players are there.
