Compared to the skills some of our players have, his style of play would suit mid table hackers as that is his strength. I'd hate to see that at City we've moved beyond that a long time ago.

Richardson to be named Cork manager

As always Spillage gets it dead right!Damien Richardson is set to be named as Cork City manager in succession to Pat Dolan today.
Richardson will hold talks with chairman Brian Lennox this afternoon with a press conference provisionally pencilled in for tomorrow, should an agreement be reached for Richardson to return to the club he first managed between 1993 and 1994.
At that time, Richardson resigned having led the club to the second round of the Champions League and second in the League claiming the club lacked ambition.
But Richardson always admitted that he felt there was unfinished business at Turner’s Cross having gone on to enjoy a successful managerial career with Cobh Ramblers, Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers.
“I would certainly feel I have some unfinished business from my previous spell there,” he said. “There is great potential at the club and the key is to tap into that potential.”
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.

Former Newcastle boss Sir Bobby Robson has admitted he is missing the day-to-day buzz of management.

The 72-year-old was granted the freedom of the city of Newcastle - joining the likes of Alan Shearer, Jackie Milburn, Nelson Mandela and Sir Bob Geldof - at a special ceremony yesterday.
And although he has been out of the game since losing his job at St James' Park in August last year, the former England boss is not ready for retirement quite yet.
'I am missing management,' he said. 'It is not only the banter with the players, I'm missing the whole conundrum of management, the daily grind of training, team selection, the involvement. It's a big miss.
'At the moment, I do not have any ideas about when I'll be returning to management.
'The current season is obviously starting to tail off now, but there will be a new beginning soon.
'May is around the corner and things change and things happen, so I will just wait and see.
'I am not in a hurry to take the wrong job, but I am ready to take the right job and I feel that there is another job in me, but what that will be, I do not know.
'I do not need a headache and I will not take on a headache, but I will take on a job and see where it goes. I know where I left and I know where I would like to be.
'I know the area I am capable of working in, but we will wait and see. And of course I would like a job in the Premiership - if one was available.'
Paul Gascoigne, the man Robson took under his wing during his time in charge of the national team, has little doubt that his mentor still has what it takes to succeed.
'I have asked him does he want to go back into management and I think he does,' said Gascoigne.
'If the right job comes along, Sir Bobby would take it, and no doubt he would do a great job as well.
'Every club he has been to, he has taken them from nowhere to the highest you can take them and done it through many, many clubs.
'I have been around and played for many managers, but for me when I see the likes of Sir Bobby, Sir Alex Ferguson, Walter Smith, Terry Venables, I am in awe of those men.'
Robson's return to the game would also have the backing of Frenchman Laurent Robert, the enigmatic winger for whom he paid Paris St Germain £10.5million.
'For me, Bobby Robson is a grandfather to me,' he said.
'He is a very good man and I went to Newcastle because Mr Robson contacted me and liked me.
'He is a great man and I love him. He knows everything about football, he knows my family and he knows how to understand me. That is really important for a footballer.
'For me, he is the best manager in Europe - Barcelona, Porto and Newcastle, and he stayed five seasons here.
'The time at Newcastle has been special and every year they have finished near the top. He's been very important for the club and the fans.
'He is a fantastic guy. Mr Robson will forever stay in my heart. He is a very good man.'
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.
He works with what he has at Waterford- his players aren't brilliant, so he implements tactics that suit his players. Better players would, I imagine, mean better tactics.
I'm not saying he'd be my first choice, or even my 5th choice, but there are worse options- Gunther anyone
