    A couple of points

    1) Didn't it turn out EXACTLY how we told you it would? Money problems, Dolan using others to make petty points, ending up with some fans believing him and some the club and a far from happy dismissal. Hopefully you won't still be arguing about it in 2 years time like us.

    2) Pretty ballsy move by Lennox. Eanna above said no-one could argue he has the best interest of the club at heart but that doesn't mean he's capable of the job. This move will make or break him.

    3) Rumour in da capital is that Lennox has already sounded out Roddy about moving down south. Alan Duncan (the p****) was brought into Pats by Dolan and now is a bigwig at Rovers, the talk is Dolan's PR skills are wanted by the rovers board to help win them the tallaght stadium.

    4) to summarise point 1, I told you so

Richardson is quoted as now being interested in the job, having previously stated on Sunday that he would not talk about it while Dolan was in charge.

'Cork City's preparations for the new season were thrown into turmoil last night when manager Pat Dolan was sacked by club chairman Brian Lennox just two weeks before the start of the new season.'

'Dolan is said to have made efforts to resolve matters when he, Lennox and the players met on Friday morning but there were reports of further difficulties, which it seems culminated in last night's dramatic training ground dismissal.'

'Dolan's high spending was also a feature of his time at St Patrick's Athletic, but players who have worked with him have generally praised him for the professional way in which he manages team affairs. At Inchicore he also brought considerable success although his departure was followed by a financial crisis with many of the league winning team he had assembled departing.'

I'm not sure about the whole Rico appointment, whether or not he'll be any good, but we'll have to give him a chance.

Yeah, I heard that last night. Still, it wouldn't be the first time that George has reacted to something, and then clamed down and changed his mind.

True, wouldn't read much in to it.

If you can, listen to Lennox's interview on the website. Is it me or does Lennox sound like he's lording it over Pat now he's gone? I mean, i respect Lennox greatly, but this seems way too personal a decision for my liking...

it would depend on lennox's reasons for sackin him, he could state breach of contract or something, maybe for not turning up to meetings or something similiar--i dunno but i think lennox knew he was going to sack him and took the pay off into consideration so maybe he has something up his sleave!!! hopefully

afterall dolan could bankrupt the club if he does get the pay off!!!

    Pat Dolan

Looking at Pat Dolan's sacking, it was a surprise and the reason for the sacking is deep rooted. Shelbourne is the best side in the country and Pat Fenlon is the best manager. Dolan could talk the talk (just read his stuff on The Star) but it is different to walk the walk. Pat Dolan would come across as an important director of a football club rather than a manager in my opinion. Cork City will just have to move on and Pat Dolan will be back at work somewhere, though I'm not sure about Limerick F.C. having the budget to meet his demands, unless they got a serious financial injection.

Probably just you Id say, I dont think Lennox saying twice that "Pat is a gent" would cut him deep

There's a thread on the people's republic of cork website about Dolan's sacking. Some interesting comments on it.
