https://www.fai.ie/ireland/news/irel...for-friendlies . New under 16 squad interesting quote about the high quality of the squad given that he has been in the role since 2015 so has had all the years starting with the age group who were this seasons 19s.

The 3 English based lads played 15s last season. Stephen Ireland s son is in this age group I think for England who they are playing

The two lads who played against Chelsea (Ferguson and young Glory) are included. You’d have to imagine there’s serious potential there...

Looking at the names in this thread, I wonder how many of Hodge, Everett, Delap, Ireland, Egan-Riley, Barry, Okoflex, Cirkin and Kavanagh will end up playing for us.

In reality, there's only going to be so many Irish-qualified members of the England senior team at any one time - last squad had four by my count (Keane, Rice, Kane and Wilson), two of whom were never part of our set-up. So I wouldn't worry about losing too many, especially if we remind them how many senior international caps Jack Grealish has and compare that with Callum O'Dowda's numbers

https://www.the42.ie/barry-ferguson-...68084-Oct2019/ good read especially for us oldies who remember young Ferguson's dad. When u see some of the players mentioned macphail especially and Quinn who played premier league and even willie bolland it shows how hard it is to stay at top even when u make the breakthrough at the top

And his 14-year-old son is now a senior player - mad!

Jimmy Corcoran's release (and that of other young lads) would lead me to believe that Preston is hardly the best choice for any young player at this moment in time.

He was with Cork City under-17s.

Corcoran has been in training with Dundalk actually. Although not sure they need another goalkeeper, or a smart move for a young lad looking to play football.

The issue at PNE seems to be that they don't have a reserve/under 23 side. So if you come through the youth system there and you're not exceptional at that age, you're out the door fairly quickly. Not ideal as some players are later developers and don't get a fair shot.

If Aaron McCarey can’t get a game for love nor money, Jimmy won’t have a chance.

Seems mad with McCarey really, I mean without seeing him play recently, he might be the best keeper in the league... Yet he’s playing about 3 games a season

Philpott was released from City, but has signed an Academy contract with Huddersfield: https://www.htafc.com/news/2021/marc...ed-for-202122/

    John Morling son I assume?

Can't find anything about Aidan Cannon at Celtic but Michael Golding of Chelsea seemed happy to be with England recently: https://www.instagram.com/p/CQi6UWQh..._web_copy_link
