No . Myler was poor tonight . Its no wonder Harry After was going around a bit demented when he came on . He is playing in the Premier League ( ok, its Bournemouth ) and he has to be asking himself how he could not get in that team tonight .

The Georgia game is why he couldn’t get in the starting 11.

Arter certainly made a meal out of fairly minimal contact but the Moldovan seemed to be looking to get sent off. He shoulder-charged an onrushing Arter which was a much worse foul than the ‘headbutt’

    My ratings

Randolph: 7 - Looked solid. His distribution is a big plus for us
Christie: 7 - I like Christie. I like the runs he makes and how he takes his chances gets forward and offer a threat.
Duffy: 8 - I thought Duffy was terrific. Looks really composed and offers the obvious threat from set pieces
Clark: 7 - Duffy and Clark look like they have been playing together for years.
Wardi Alba: 7 - Another good performance. The progress he has made as a player is a credit to him and the coaches that have helped him along.
Meyler: 7 - Certainly offered more than Whelan in the role.
Hendrick: 7 -Always shows for the ball and rarely gives it away.
Hoolahan: 7 - Started well but was noticeably holding a bit back in the second half. Should have been subbed at half time to keep him fresh for Monday imho.
O'Dowda: 7 - I'm not sure what O'Neill sees in him over some others but he didn't look out of place to tbf.
Murphy: 8 - Delighted for him. Should have been left on to try for the hat trick.
Long: 6 - Needs a goal badly. Looks bereft of confidence.

Arter: 1 - An utter disgrace. Needs to have it explained to him that you don't get on like that in the green shirt.

You have to go a long way down the Premiership stats before find an Irish central midfielder.

There is Hendrick at 178, Arter is over 200.

Hence you have to look to the Championship, Hourihane is at 27, he has a few goal 5 in 9 I think.
    Next is O Kane 105, Wes 115.
    Will McCarthy be ready?

    + Strengths

    Key passes Very Strong
    Long shots Very Strong
    Taking set-pieces Very Strong
    Direct free-kicks Strong
    Ball interception Strong
    Tackling Strong
    Concentration Strong
His 5 goals in 9 games do boosthis rating somewhat (3 in one game) but then a goal is quite handy isn't it?

Yeah, Meyler was superb in both games, big loss. Maybe better he misses the first leg rather than picking up a booking in that game and missing the second....

Do we definitely know that bookings carry through to the play-offs? We know suspensions do, as Meyler will be suspended obviously, but there seems to be uncertainty on whether or not bookings do. I'll assume they do in the absence of word to the contrary as I've had a brief look through the rules but saw no mention of any distinction being made between the group stage and the play-off stage in terms of cards.

noticed this in the Sky Sports review of the game, but the "goals in opening five minutes" stat might have changed following the final round of qualifiers: http://www.skysports.com/football/re...moldova/350205
After losing against Serbia in their previous home game, Republic of Ireland maintained their record of having not lost back-to-back home games in competitive action since 1972 (a run of three defeats).
Republic of Ireland have scored four goals in the opening five minutes of games in 2018 World Cup qualifying; the most of any European team.
