    WYW v Manulla (Cup)

With Manulla missing a good number of players from their FAI Intermediate Cup win in Limerick last week, including star forward Jess Nolan, it was always going to be a difficult task for the Mayo side to come to Wexford and match Wexford Youths Women in this WFAI Cup quarter-final. Manulla matched Wexford reasonably well for the first fifteen minutes or so, but as their fitness began to waver, it became an easy task for Wexford who were far sharper and fitter all across the pitch. Claire O’Riordan got Wexford’s first on fifteen minutes and it was 6-0 at half-time with further goals from Aisling Frawley, Claire O’Riordan again, Emma Hansberry with a brace and Kylie Murphy with one.

Second half more or less matched the first with further goals from Linda Douglas, a hat-trick goal from Emma Hansberry, a Rianna Jarrett header and two goals from Amy Wilson. Manulla only came close to a goal from a corner when a defensive heade rby the Wexford defence had to be pushed away by Sophie Lenehan in the Wexford goal for another Manulla corner. Subs for Wexford in the second half were Amy Wilson, Siobhan Doolan and Rianna Jarrett. Best for Manulla were skipper Tracey Hall and Linda McDonnell. 11-0 to Wexford at full-time.
