Let's hope that his 2018 is more like his 2016 and not his 2017

Surprised nobody mentioned this already, but Hogan got the only goal as Villa beat Forest - his second in two league games in 2018 - is he finally settling in? http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/42587563

Yes, I think I said in my last post here the floodgates have opened, perhaps slightly tongue in cheek, but it seems perhaps
    they have.

Bit of a tap in as I recall but that was down to earlier good movement imo, a good sign in a way
as spectacular goals tend to be few and far between.

And I though Forest were on the up after beating Arsenal in the FA cup, clearly not.

Defending is not great but I'd prefer to give credit to Scott. Great ball in too.

Oh yes. He's motoring now. He's got a goal after 5 minutes at home to Barnsley.

Dean Smith has been appointed Aston Villa manager. He was in charge at Brentford and oversaw Hogan's 16/17 season goalscoring blitz. Positive news.

Loan move for Hogan - https://www.sufc.co.uk/news/2019/january/hogan-arrives/

Would he have been better off going somewhere he'll be a guaranteed starter? Billy Sharp has 18 Championship goals this season.

Oh good, he'll be competing with McGoldrick for a spot, just when McGoldrick is in his best form in years. Okay, it's more likely he'll be a replacement for Leon Clarke, who has gone on loan to Wigan: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47063771 - should at least give him more of a chance to impress, as Clarke has started nine league games and appeared as sub in fifteen more for a total of 930 minutes and scored three times whereas Hogan has only six sub appearances for a grand total of 68 minutes at Villa. Hopefully he'll be able to kickstart a career that seems in danger of starting the fizzling out - in this regard, a move to Sheffield United has been good for McGoldrick, Egan and Stevens so lets hope it works for Hogan

I don't really see them competing that much. McGoldrick is a 10 who links play. Hogan is an out-and-out 9. I can't see the manager there playing two number nines so looks like Hogan will mainly be an impact player, unless he can oust an in-form Sharp, which seems unlikely.

Hopefully the manager there sees something in him like he saw in McGoldrick, that few others spotted & can bring that out in his play. Ipswich fans weren't bothered when McGoldrick left, same as Villa fans aren't bothered about Hogan leaving now.

Not only McGoldrick but he also resurrected Leon Clarke's career (since moved on to Wigan) so it might be a good move for him since living in Sheffield is inclined to concentrate the mind on football with not much else of interest there I am afraid.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Just thought I'd note that Scott Hogan did get his first goal for Sheffield United last weekend in a 3-2 defeat to Bristol City - yes, I know, false dawns and all that, but still... where does he rank in our list of forwards? Competing with Maguire for fifth? Or has the goalscoring exploits of Collins and Curtis in League One (plus Will Keane's form before injury) left him adrift of the squad? https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47676102

Don’t think he will amount to much from an international perspective, hopefully, our promising young strikers will come through soon. If sheff United go up, they will need to invest in one or two strikers, Hogan will unlikely see much prem action
