Call me crazy but I’m actually cautiously optimistic Connolly can rejuvenate his career at Hull. He’s with a manager who knows him inside out, and has worked well with him before. He looks fit, still making his intelligent runs off the back of defenders and Hull are not too bad a side. Let’s see if he can kickstart his with a few goals and stay out of nite clubs, the latter being a big IF

I think his application on loan last year was spot on just couldn't score. Top notch when he played for the 21s in September really put effort in . I think if he does not get to the very top level it will simply be because he is not talented enough not because he doesn't apply himself in training. I watched a bit of the game yesterday and he worked hard. Missed a great 1 on 1 chance. Hes definitely a bit rusty looking, his movement off the ball isnt great at times but it is nice to see him starting games again and not looking out of place

That’s down to me and that’s stuff I’ve not been professional enough about. That mindset has completely flipped and if I can take anything positive from that Italy move, it’s that side of the game off the pitch, I had to get used to a different environment and just work. There was a lot of running in Italy but I’m starting to enjoy that bit of it as well, the professional side

Yeah, particularly as there was a clean slate / new beginning / no more bad company interview when he set off to Italy too. Just shut up & score a few goals & try to level off the nosedive his career is in, would be the one.
Most frustrating thing here is to get the chances he's still getting, there must be a real player in there but my money would still be on continuing decline. I'd love to be wrong.

Hasnt lived in Galway in good few years now. Its natural that he picks up a bit of an accent from where hes living, especially as a younger guy. Ive been living in the States for 9 years now, my accent isnt the same as it was when I was in Galway and Im twice Aarons age.
Theres plenty of real things to have a go at him about, not having the same accent as a lad whos never left his home town isnt one of them

An opportunity to absolve yourself doesn't mean it's correct. Nothing worse than an Irish lad a couple of summers in America and coming back a yank
You sounding like a bogger doesnt mean everyone should be like you. Galway accent is generally mild anyway so its very easy to pick up other accents with it.
If a lad was a couple of summers in the US surrounded by Americans who couldnt understand a word of his bogger Roscommon accent then it would be stupid of that lad not to try to adjust to where hes living and talk in a way he was understood.
I've been in Scotland nearly 20 years. Accent hasn't changed a bit to accommodate anyone else and it won't be changing either. If they don't like it they can **** off.

Fair play, you are stubborn and won't change for anyone like a good old fashioned Irish man. I don't have the luxury of not making myself understood when I am on call discussing someone's finances.
My point is that not everyone is in same situation and this caveman attitude that you are irish to the core and any hint of an accent change lessens that is utter b0ll0cks

I’ve been living in Carlow 10 years and I don’t have a hint of a Carlow accent.
I understand people getting a twang. But Connolly barely sounds Irish at times.
It makes me question his character
My cousin has lived the last probably 15/20 years in Colorado. Says he had to learn to dramatically slow down the speak at which he spoke to be understood. Not sure his accent changed but he had to find a way to alter his speech to be understood
I have a friend of mine I was speaking to recently, who reckoned Connolly was suffering from bipolar disorder. He’s not a doctor but he has a family member who suffers from it. I’d never thought about it but if it or something similar were the case - I think we’d all do well to be relatively sympathetic to him
