Outstanding performance by Shelbourne to draw 0-0 with top seeds, Medyk Konin, who are ranked 34th in Europe, today in Belfast. Shelbourne arguably created the better chances and conceded a very dubious penalty on 80 minutes when the ball seemed to strike Seana Cooke in the face as she was prone on the ground but the ref. gave a peno for handball and gave Shauna a red card. Happily, the peno by Medyk was more threat to planes landing in Belfast City Airport than to Amanda McQuillan's goal. Some great performances by Tiegan Ruddy, Niamh Prior and Gloria Douglas although unfair to pick anyone out. Gives them a good chance of qualification now.
For anyone interested, Medyk Konin are promising a live stream of their match against Linfield Ladies on their Facebook page (kick-off 3pm this afternoon). If Linfield could get something out of the game, it would be a huge boost to Shelbourne's chances of qualification.
