Coventry playing again for west ham 23 s tonight again Bristol rovers senior side. For a midfielder who is an under 18 this year for us he seems like a fine talent hopefully following in the rice mould. Scully subbing up for them hasn't really matched the hype he had as a 15/16 year old when it looked like brits wood snatch him but to be fair he is still under 19 for us this season

I know - soon, Irish-qualified midfielders will be declaring for England to improve their chances of having an international career.

In fairness the success of England underage and the vast quantity and unreal quality of player they are producing is phenomenal. I think on the whole that helps our lads who go over to UK clubs which are producing such technical players andchelps us cause Irish qualified lads coming up through those academies are in a great environment.

Glen McAuley came off the bench to score the last goal for Liverpool U19 in their 3-0 win over Maribor in the UEFA Youth League. Masterson played in defence

Thank You. I knew he had Ireland on his mind.
Couldn't quite put my finger on it with a previous post, but this is solid evidence I would say.

That's a very good point. I have said in recent years that Irish lads should go anywhere but England in order to get a technical and tactical apprenticeship. But the achievements of the England underage teams over the last few months (they are world champions at 3 age groups) just cannot go unnoticed. They are obviously doing something right at the moment, and should be in a position to challenge for the World Cup itself in the next ten years. And liamo correctly points out that any Irish lad going into that environment can only benefit.

McCauley's name is always there whenever goals are mentioned for Liverpool's U-18's, U-19's.

It's the nature of how fantastic the Liverpool academy is(liverpool fan!!) but Brewster who is a regular for the pool 23 s and top scorer for England 17s is younger by a few months than mccauley. Will there be room for 2 17 year old strikers to break through?

Hopefully. Liverpool have always had a habit of bringing strikers up from their ranks. They have had some success with imports, but nothing like Rush and Fowler.

But they bought Rush from Chester?

Maybe playing reserve games was "up through their ranks" but for £300k it was hardly youth development in the conventional sense!

I wouldn't necessarily think so. They have one of the biggest playing populations in the world and the richest clubs. They could easily be where they are based on pure luck.

Brighton's U23s lost tonight in Premier League Cup action to Hull, but their first goalscorer was Aaron Connolly, grabbing his second in two games and playing the full match. Hmm... interesting. Jayson Molumby also played the full 90, while Dessie Huctchinson came on as a second-half sub: https://www.brightonandhovealbion.co...-on-03-nov-17/

Little bit of news from tonight's Premier League Cup action - we haven't been hearing much about Ronan Hale recently, but tonight he bagged a brace in Birmingham U23s' 3-1 over Middlesbrough. To make things even more promising, the other goal was scored by Corey O'Keeffe, while Daniel Cleary played the full game: https://www.bcfc.com/news/articles/2...s-under-23s-3/

Elsewhere, Shane McLoughlin and James Finnerty faced each other as Ipswich beat Aston Villa 2-1, while Anthony Breslin and Connor Ronan lined out for Wolves against Norwich, with Ronan earning an assist and Breslin involved in the build-up for one of the other goals: https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/under-23/20171106-late-canaries-double-stuns-wolves/

Not much going on tonight, but Reece Grego-Cox did continue his recent goal scoring form (after some recent absences), albeit as part of a pasting that QPR U23s received from Colchester (who had Eoin McKeown on their scorers' list - surely he must be eligible): https://www.qpr.co.uk/fixtures/under...r-united-u23s/

Elsewhere, Dan Cleary, Corey O'Keeffe all lined out for Birmingham against Burnley, while Paudie O'Connor captained Leeds against Nottingham Forest

Judging by pictures, the lad McKeown has some African ethnicity. The first name would really lend itself to an Irish background. The second name is Irish too but the first provides the icing on the cake.
