You said: "I don’t think anyone saw McGinn turning into the player he has become back when he was in his mid 20s". He's now 26 and has played three great seasons with Villa and at international level. Do the maths.

Okay so if thats the case can you show me the post or posts that showed people saying that McGinn would go on to be a 30m pound plus midfielder in the PL or the equivalent of that. Ive yet to come across it.

Still doing very well at Hibs and quickly becoming a fans favourite there. He has come in to replace Jackson Irvine, a 30 cap Australia international, and is being seen as a significant upgrade on him based on his performances so far, so given the state of our midfield he's maybe not that far away from a call up.

Hibs have had an easy enough run of games domestically at the start of the season though. It looks much tougher for them after the international break, so it will be interesting to see if JDH can keep the standard up against the stronger teams in the league.

Opened his scoring account for Hibs on Saturday with two crackers: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/60357413 - if he can keep this up and maybe move up a level next season, he could yet be an option in the future.

Thanks that volley is a great strike. If he could play 6 for us he certainly has a chance of been involved given our limitations at 6

injuries seem to have knocked this guy back a fair bit. Is he out again with an injury? Think the original problem was caused by a traiing ground tackle from the manager at the time, not the first time thats happened to an up and coming irish player!

Managers should manage and stop trying to impress their players, by how great they were once upon a time !

Yes he's injured. Has rarely impressed for Hibs when he has played. His career looks to have stalled at SPL/League 1 level, haven't seen anything from him to suggest that he'll ever be a genuine international option.

Has left Hibs mid contract after a poor few years there, after a bright start a combination of injuries and loss of form have seen him almost never feature for the first team in recent seasons. Not sure if he's one that might come back to Ireland now, or if he'll be able to pick up a contract somewhere else in Britain despite his injury record. Initial rumour is that Goodwin might take him at Dundee United, having previously had him at St Mirren.

He should be a standout there if he can stay injury free. That's a big if though, his last few years have been ruined by injury, before the injuries he would have been expected to have a decent career in Britain, albeit outside the top two English divisions.

Sligo have had a tough start, and it's not likely to get any easier, bottom 2/3 budget in the league. Might be tougher than you'd think given the responsibility he's going to have to shoulder after such a tough few years. Hope for his sake the body holds up and he gets a few months football in to him. It'll be a grand ground to play in as the weather improves at least. He has gotten some minutes already so hopefully he gets up to speed and rebuilds his career.

Sligo Rovers midfielder Jake Doyle-Hayes is suing his former club Hibernians over an injury he suffered after a tackle from then manager Lee Johnson.

Joel Shaw, who is a partner in the firm described the damage that the injury caused Jake Doyle-Hayes.

The impact of this has greatly restricted his career.

These injuries should never have happened and were incurred due to incompetent and incoherent decisions made by his manager.

Jake's career has been derailed by mismanagement and ineptitude. A career has been lost to this athlete.

So is it because it was his manager who damaged him ?
Or are training ground injuries now fair legal game ?
Could be a real Pandoras box of worms if he wins this for the game, surely injuries are just part of it unless the manager did this on purpose.

That's before you consider he's playing 90 minutes most weeks for Sligo this season, so maybe he's just not that good, or maybe his trajectory from Villa to St Mirren to Hibs would have taken a remarkable upturn.

His trajectory before November 2022 was 30 league 2 games for Cheltenham in 2019/20, followed by 20 league games for St Mirren in 2020/21 (after signing in November 2020), then 51 Scottish Premiership games for Hibs in 2021/22 and the start of 2022/2023.

In the two and a half seasons after that, he played twice. So something definitely curtailed his progress, beyond his ability
