Jake Doyle Hayes (M Hibs b.1998)

Doyle Hayes on bench for Villa hopefully gets a run. Shaughnessy starts for Leeds fair play to him released last summer by reading it looks a good turn around

Played the full game, although they lost 0-2. Hogan subbed after 63 minutes, although possibly tactical as they were down to 10 men at that stage.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

We might have to return Hogan for Bamford.

Made the bench for Villa's win at Middlesbrough. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/42463022
On the upside it isn't an EFL second round game against Shrewsbury or a dead rubber match at the end of the season. On the downside, there does appear to be an injury crisis at Villa, with nine out, so that obviously contributed to his promotion to the first team squad. On another upside, maybe this means Steve Bruce will give him some game time in next week's cup tie against Peterborough

Started tonight v Yeovil in the cup for Villa, next to Hourihane and Whelan in midfield, was booked and Grealish replaced him after about an hour.

Great to see him get out on loan and especially to a club like Cambridge who will be in a real scrap for the next few months

Playing for Cheltenham in the League 2 playoffs tonight. Cheltenham leading 1-0 and he assisted the goal.

Very highly rated by the Cheltenham fans but looking like he'll be released by his parent club Aston Villa in the next few weeks.

Qualifies for the Under 21s but I don't think he's ever been capped at that level. Could be worth a look for Crawford if the likes of Molumby get senior call ups.

He was called up by pulled out through injury. Eligible centre midfielders galore:

    Molumby
    Ronan
    Coventry
    Knight
    Smallbone
    Taylor
    Mandriou
    Doyle-Hayes
    Clarke
    Noss
    Hodge
    Connell

There’s also Aaron Bolger who was better at U19 level than Coventry, Knight, Connell and Smallbone. If he breaks into the Cardiff side soon, he’d be another option...

Interesting article on Doyle Hayes involving a journalist who has clearly seen a lot of him. Hopefully he gets fixed up with a club at League 1 level soon, seems a real under-the-radar type for us given his limited involvement with our Under 21s.

Hopefully this is some way accurate and that he has options to pick from. That article quoted in the previous post on this thread reads well.

St Mirren are on a good run at the moment. 6 wins and a draw in their last 7 matches, albeit only two matches were in the league where they sit second from bottom. The Irish contingent of Doyle-Hayes, Dylan Connolly, Conor McCarthy, Sam Foley and Jamie McGrath seem to start most games, maybe Connolly less than the others. Joe Shaughnessy starts too I think normally. McGrath scored the winner against Aberdeen in the league cup yesterday.

Posters on the St Mirren fan's forum are delighted with Doyle-Hayes' impact and expect him to move onto bigger and better things: https://www.blackandwhitearmy.com/fo...ge/2/#comments

Hopefully they can push up the table now.

Jake Doyle-Hayes has yet to commit to a longer period at St Mirren as he keeps his options open, it has been reported.

Strange one that. He only signed for St Mirren in November. Cheltenham were very keen to keep him too and he moved on with his name being linked to Championship sides (QPR) before signing quite late at St Mirren. I think I remember Goodwin saying he was really surprised he was available so late and we delighted to get him.

I'm not sure if there's a theme there with the agent. A full season at St Mirren might not be the worst thing for him

I'd say when he left Villa for good last summer he was expecting to be picked up by a much bigger club than St Mirren but it didn't quite work out.

He has done quite well in Scotland and I could see one of the bigger payers in the league taking him as a relatively cheap option given that he's out of contract - Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen would be the three most likely clubs. In particular the would fit the Hibs current approach of buying young, cheap Scottish based players and selling them on after a few years for a decent profit.
