Bye bye Stan. Go off back to collecting cones you useless git.
Hamilton was up to his claptrap again last night. Not only he was up to his usual "danger here" quote; on Lillian Thuram, he called him French or formerly French. I thought that if you were once French, you were always French.
As for Luis Garcia, we had to endure some crap waffle about him being a Spanish student in Ballybrack, Dublin.
People tune into football matches to watch them and cheer on a team, not to listen to drivel on player's biographies.

Hamilton can be bad enough on his own but when combined with Jim Beglin is as i said just too 'Dumb 'n Dumber' for me.

Two things: I'm no fan of George Hamilton but in live commentary you've got to expect mistakes. I'd prefer him to John Motson who spends the time chuckling at his own pathetic jokes or to Andy (I hate the referee) Gray. My main beef with Hamilton is that when someone is leading with 15 minutes to go he talks as if the game is over (Bulgaria 0 Scotland 1 being a case in point when he started talking about opening bottles of champagne as the Bulgars hit the woodwork and the ball is also cleared off the line).
Secondly, anyone born on the Island of Ireland is Irish according to our Constitution and I bet he travels under an Irish passport. He is certainly more Irish than McGeady![]()
Should give Mr Hamilton an assignment of commentating an African match and see him spluttering out with the local pronounciations and sound like a real tool box. Preferably a game between Rwanda and Madagascar.![]()
yupp shtum for jaap stam was one![]()
Leave him alone!
I interviewed George during the year, hes a top bloke and a funny oul ****e. He did play soccer for Queens in Belfast (played with a certain Martin O Neill!)Hes a top man who loves the game, sure enough he makes a load of mistakes but thats why ya love to hear him commentate, its never boring!
He cme out with a great one for The Normich City vs Southampton match, speaking about Delia Smith
"And theres Norwich Citys Delia Smith, well lets be avin ya Norwich, surely thats on the menu"

"You should always take good care of your cat" - Postman Pat, 1991
2005 - a great year for Irish football
i think george wont be appreciated till he is gone!
put it this way he is miles and miles ahead of darragh maloney , stephen alkin and the rest.
I agree, George is a good commentator. When he commentates on a match you can hear his passion for the game and he can make games seem exciting. Compare that to the dull commentary from the likes of Trevor Welch that would suck the life out of any game. He makes mistakes but he's good to listen to, he's the best of all of the current Irish commentators bar Jimmy Magee who's semi-retired now isn't he?
