8 out of 12 progressing in FAI, good day for the league.
How can a premier team give a walkover ?? Football affect it or something.
Great results besides that
Ya St Senans in county final would affect them , I know from talking to rovers lads they'd struggle aswell only for their B team

Big game in Rathkeale. Two big guns. Same in the city, Carew and Pike.
Anyone have any theories why players prioritise Gaelic Football over soccer? At inter county level Limerick are amongst the poorest sides in the country and have generally been always in that category. In general there is little to no interest amongst the general public in Gaelic Football in Limerick, this is bourne out by attendances at Limerick games. I say all this because I just saw a message there on Shannonside's Facebook page where they seek Gods assistance to help the local football side win a county final while last Sunday they couldn't fulfill a Junior Cup tie in Kerry which reflected badly on them and the league as a whole.
Indeed it was brutal for a premier team to give a walkover. It annoys me that the Gaa isn’t finished by now. Given that both senior teams were eliminated by July!!! Doesn’t excuse players prioritising gaa but realistically there shouldn’t even be a clash at this stage
JohnieC , you are right Gaelic football in limerick could well be the worst in the country but tradition is hard to get away from , as someone who played with Abbey & Caseys rightly or wrongly an county intermedite or senior title will be remembered long long after by many whereas the Desmond league or cup is only remembered by a few. A county senior final could see you play infront of 3 to 4000 people too at the end of the day .
It affects some clubs more than others, we'll always manage due to numbers but most smaller clubs like your own Ballinstin Lad will always choose GAA first , big clubs like Rathkeale, broadford, ncw are also weakened when their football or hurling teams are going well. Very few unaffected Kilcornan & Glin about the only 2 parishs in West Limerick where soccer comes first for the majority largely because their no good at gaa.
