Can a referee be involved in any capacity with a football club? My understanding for the last 20/30yrs or more was no, but i hear rumours of the contrary

I taught No, but a referee told me you can but you can't be a member of referee society aswell. I don't know what difference it makes

For a Desmond League match??? Rule of thumb I would say get the request in as soon as you know you need it - 2 week minimum notice I think - Team can have 2 requests a season
MJC/FAI matches different story I think - extremely hard to get one called off - you often see in bad weather all league games off but they'll have to still play the FAI game

To get a free weekend club have to give request in to the league in writing and give at least three weeks notice. If a club has A and B teams they can request a free weekend for either or both depending on circumstance.

it was always difficult to get a game off unless u were ratkeale when they had a club member over fixtures or broadford when they had chairman involved.i see they have no game this wknd and both playing gaa... how come granagh game v abbey is on early?? with four games in you would fancy ratkeale with prob abbey or rovers to push them...

Another lazy statement, I'm pretty sure both had games in the last few years when county finals are on. Also Rathkeale playing hurling Q final and Drom Broadford football semi on Sunday week. As far as I know Broadford and Rathkeale both down to play fai that day

I think that's exactly the point being made is that if it was a domestic fixture Sunday week they may not be playing. Only that it's FAI there's nothing the Desmond League can do to help those clubs
