lads, i can understand where the players are coming from. these are professional players, the pitch there training on isn't up to scratch, and no hot showers after friendlies. fail to prepare - prepare to fail and all that. I play MSL and I have better training facilities than one of the best el clubs in ireland, it's a total joke. We started our club in 1986 with 1 team, and because of the effort of the people in the club in the last 19 years, we now have 2 playing pitches, an all weather pitch and a fine clubhouse. i think the corner is right in saying that people in the club won't get up off their "holes" to do anything about it. IMO alot of people in the club are only interested in what they can get out of it. I'm not saying everyone is like that but alot.

Tis nearly about time that the fans got together and did something about it.

BL said the there has been €20,000 spent recently ... was that a site or what, maybe the fans could put that 500 club together a bit faster and get something done.

How do you know the club members are sitting back doing nada. Lets be honest, we dont know whats going on behind the scenes.

A 500 club/trust is a good idea in principal, but I would imagine quite difficult to get a commitment from 10 people, let alone 100+.

the clubs sole owner wondered why the players at tyhe centre of the controversy did not knock at bandon road first to air their grievances

No - what I meant was the facilityin LI was not developed by Leeside on their own but by the community at large.

Never mind - it's a fine place.We nearly always come away from there with the three points.

I posted pretty much the same thing over on the city forum:

For a few months now, a lot of topics have featured posts criticising and attacking Brian Lennox.

I have defended the man, based on my knowledge of what he has done for this club, his openly expressed ambitions for the club, and the improvements he has made to the club as a whole.

I didn't start this thread to have a series of posts attacking and defending him, and it all going around in a circle. What I would like to see posted are some rational arguments either for or against his chairmanship, and ideas and/or solutions to the demands so many of us supporters are making.

This is what I think:
I don't know about the financial situation of CCFC, but I'm pretty sure that City is not flush with money.
On the one hand, I would say that we have significant outgoings in wages, ground rents, travel expenses. On the other, we do have some very good sponsorship, quite good crowds at times.
B. Lennox is a successful business man, but he runs a small to medium sized business, and does not have vast reserves to pour into City. I think he wants people to come in and put money into the club, but there doesn't appear to be many willing to do this.
Unless and until somebody pours a lot of money into this club, I think players, coaches and fans will have to be patient and accept that we what we have is what can be afforded at the moment. I don't know of anyway of getting a lot of money into the club, or how a the training facilities can be built quickly.

People are suggesting the names of different clubs and saying how good their facilities are, but what else do they know about them?
Are these facilities available to CCFC?
Are they affordable?
Have you priced them and gone and told the club about them?

Everybody is open to criticism, but how would people do things better?
Who wants to take on different tasks to raise money, or save money for the club?
Who is willing to DO something, rather than take potshots at those involved and complaining?

What is it that you think B. Lennox is not doing that he should be doing, how should he do it, and how would it be financed?

CORK City have approved two new backroom staff appointments today.
The club have appointed Tommy Enright as the club’s official masseur,
while Eileen O’Keeffe has been appointed as the team’s new physiotherapist
for the coming season.
Tommy Enright works with the Cork senior footballers, while Eileen O’Keeffe has worked with the Munster U21 rugby team.
The announcement came as players voiced concerns over training facilities.

Jeez that sounds like about 2 months worth of rant there...

I couldn't see Lennox ever get to do anything he doesn't want to do. If he wants to sell up he'll do it but not under pressure from inside or outside the club.

I think the players have made a bad move in taking on Lennox in the press. he has proven previously that he won't also the Club to be held to ransom by players.

I'm sure the players have some valid points but I can't see how they think they've gone the right way about it.
