Great work and finish by Walters. And they should be in front, no way that should have been allowed!

Considering the situation with Austria before the game, that's two points lost as far as I am concerned. Too many players on auto-pilot. We're going to rue this game, and if I may say so, this ref.

Poor enough for a long time, but that goal shouldn't have been disallowed, and it should have been a penalty for Walters too.

That said, I was surprised the ref didn't blow for the nudge on the Austrian defender before the goal.

    Stunning.
Hendrick should have come off instead of Arter.

I actually feel really disappointed with just a point. O'Neill got the tactics and selection all wrong from the start. If we'd played like we did in the last quarter from the start, we could have won that game.

The disallowed goal was harsh too. It might actually have gone in anyway had Duffy left it.

Still think we were the better team in first half. We pressed and harried and took the game to them and they took their chance when it arrived.
We make hard work of it but we were the better team throughout.
Poor selection I feel. Hoolahan should have started. I wouldn't have taken Arter off either but thought whelan did well

I think Duffy would have been called up for a foul if that was in midfield. He led with his arm and pushed the guy over.

I think in the end of the day, a draw is about fair. Two poor teams.

    Congratulations Martin.
There have been some awful managerial performances over the years and that was up there with the worst of them.
Bringing Hoolahan on proved what we all knew and you apparently didn't - it changed the complexion of the game completely.
Also dropping Brady back to where he can cause a whole lot of harm (left back) was genius, Martin.
Ok if you want to substitute Ward, fine, but keep Brady in the Austrian half of the field where he can cause them harm.

Wes and McGeady were way way too late. But look what happened when they came on.
How did the Glenn Whelan gamble work out for ya Martin?
And how did it work out keeping Hendrick on the pitch for that long?
We squandered two points for one reason - Martin O'Neill.

Brady needs to stay at LB. RW did not work. McClean seems to be first choice LW now.

Wes needs to be accommodated (even if just for 60 mins).

Somebody needs to teach Duffy how to defend and how to stand up your man. You don't have to try & win the ball every time opposition is coming at you. It might work in the Championship but not at that level.

Big props to Randolph - that save has kept our hopes alive.

Whelan and Arter did not work. Whelan runs AWAY from the ball. Hendrick was on his holidays - I rate him but he did not get going.

    A few chances squandered.
McClean, the hero for so long missed two great chances - one from eight yards out, the other when he failed to tee up Arter, who surely would have scored.
Arter himself should have hit the target when well placed.
Chalking off the goal was harsh - the defender had practically put it in the net himself.
Also a penalty might have been awarded to Walters for the tackle from behind.

Make no mistake about it, Austria were there for the taking and we blew it.

I would like to think this is the end of Whelan at international level, but I'm not holding my breath.

How Arter was taken off is beyond me?
He finally brings Wes on with 20 minutes left and takes off the one player who looked like holding the midfield together? Baffling.
Whelan is years past his sell by date and Hendrick is heading down the same road unfortunately.

Very impressed with Kevin Long, love like he's been an international for years.

Austria were poor enough. But we should have won that game by two or three and we would have, had the team selection been better.

What did he do badly? I thought he was very solid.
I would've taken Hendrick off much sooner than Arter or Whelan

Don't know how to feel after that, with 10 minutes left I would have taken your hand off for the draw but we showed Austria far far too much respect but we should have been dead and buried by the time of the equaliser.
I can't believe arter was hooked, Hendrick should have been taken off, poor today and poor last week. As for the disallowed goal I'm not sure Duffy's intervention was necessary, the ball could still have ended up in the net but easy to say that from here. Had we taken the points it would have been something of a travesty. I hope that this game doesn't come back to haunt us.

2 points lost there for sure. Couldn't understand our first half display. For a side that knew if we won, that Austria and Wales would both be out of the running and everything in our hands for qualification, we certainly did not act like it and gave them far too much respect for some odd reason. On the other hand, that Duffy goal should have stood, what was wrong with it? Thought the referee was rubbish in general win, lose or draw.

Solid? Solid at doing what exactly?
It's the same complaint since the Trappatoni days - what does Glenn Whelan do?
He didn't impose himself on the midfield like Arter tried to do.
He's not mobile at all. He can't put himself about to make crucial tackles and when he gets the ball, which is not nearly as much as he should, he does precious little with it.
Arter has come in and done more in two games than Whelan has in years.
    Unfortunately Hendrick wasn't much better.
As said before, and also said by Liam Brady yesterday, Arter and Hoolahan were the two to start and go from there.
