Most people are using 1280px resolutions these days, but a large percentage are still using 1024px. 800px should be fine. Anything above that will screw up layouts for people.
At least it was not Cheryl Cole's pic who you posted. I heard her do a voice over for an advert for some cosmetic junk and she has a disgusting advertising voice! It was like listening to a Longford Town fan celebrating a goal against Athlone Town. Made me want to vomit.
