    AGM in the Radisson

I was at the meeting tonight in the Radisson. Very poor turnout of members about fifty people. Considering all's that's happening in the club and then people don't care enough to attend the AGM

The chairman, Michael Toolan, spoke very well about development on and off the pitch. Mary McGowan gave her report and the outlook looks good. The man looking after the money, Fergal Keavney, gave a great speak on the running of the club from a financial side of things. I was very impressed with this man and he answered every question which was put to him. The dept has reduced considerably which is a great thing as faras the future of the club is concerned.

Sean Connor spoke from the heart and I just love to hear this man talk. He talks as passionately about the Rovers as I do with twelve pints on me. I think the club is in good times and the good times are just around the corner.

The turnout was very dissapointing. It was the most positive AGM that I have attended, and very professionally ran. Well done to all involved. Credit where credit is due.
The debt is now manageable, and reducing annually. So any extra funding brought in this season, goes into the team. Thats good news. The thing that I felt was most dissapointing, was the cost of running the team. Finn Harps put together a title winning team on roughly the same budget. The team was criticized from the floor for their lack of passion and commitment on the field. The manager guaranteed that this season we would all see a different attitude on the pitch. Lets hope so.

I was really impressed with Seán Conner he's really passionate and optimistic about the season a head. It was also very good to see we made a profit in what was the worst season in 17 years on the pitch

From a figure of something in the region of 340 members only something like 67 bought season tickets last season. At last night's meeting, the club's AGM one must remember, it was felt at kickoff time at eight-o-clock that the meeting would not be able to start as there's some rule to say fifty members have to be there and there wasn't. Luckily just enough did turn up. Considering that and also the fact that not one person put their names forward to go on the committee one must be left wondering is this the right way to operate the club. The chairman mentioned that they are considering other ways to bring in people as members. He said the club depends mostly on people to volunteer their services selling the lotto and helping out on matchnights but says he that these type of people are a dying breed. What future then for our club. Considering that the present management committee are well into their fifties and older and new new blood coming in where to from here?
