Kevin Kilbane made his debut against Iceland in 1997. I wonder will any of the lads making their debuts tonight reach 100+ caps?

Kilbane was only 20 so I would say it's highly unlikely. Who's the youngest in line to make his debut tonight, Egan at 24 maybe?

It's unlikely as they're all in their mid-20s. Horgan and Egan are both 24. Boyle and Hourihane are both 26.

Kilbane was 19 or 20 when he made his senior debut, wasn't he? So he'd have had a four or six year head-start on tonight's debutants.

Only 3 from the Iceland first team selected in the starting line-up this evening.

Might be enough to win, but hardly enough to set off yet another baby boom with 3 or 4 births above average, in 9 months time.

Great side to see picked. Mcgeady in the free role. Hendrick defensive midfield which I think he is better suited to than the advanced role and hopefully hourihane can show good work rate and good defensive ability and shows us his football ability. Think it shows Brady is our left full if we have close to full squad. Hope hourihane gets given some set pieces

Pretty happy with that team. Delighted Hourihane and Egan start. Horgan ahead of McClean surely though? Would have more interest in seeing Boyle than Pearce but the latter deserves his run out.

Very attack-minded line-up but I'd have liked to have seen Horgan and Boyle start. I'm sure they'll come on at some point. Hopefully they'll both be given decent run-outs anyway.

In fairness it's very experimental. No reason for Boyle to be ahead of Pearce Boyle has only had a few games at Preston. Not playing Gleason or Meyer defensive midfield is positive. McLean will only play a half. O'Neill deserves credit

Backing Aiden for a big showing tonight. Then we'll all be saying "Why didn't he start against Wales?"

Yeah you'd imagine he'll be on the right of that three that JoeD set out above and McGeady more central. You wouldn't know though, McClean might just play up front with Long in a more conventional 4-4-2.

We know why he didn't start though really. O'Neill was more concerned with not losing than winning, mission accomplished as far as he's concerned really.

Why was there a moments applause outside of it being for the "football family"?

Was it for Milo, McBride and Treacy again?

I think Randolph would have had that covered.

Was more exercised about whoever it was in the wall ducked their head out of the way (can't tell from my rubbish stream). Can't imagine Roy would be too impressed. Thought it was pretty tough to stop once it cleared the wall.
    Ou-est le Centre George Pompidou?
