Good to see from the website that Dundalk have detailed plans in place to develop the club over the next few years.

Maybe ye won't be sleeping giants for much longer!

Say for arguements sake Longford fail to have the requirements met by the friday deadline. Does this mean that Waterford United would take their spot in europe? Can anyone shed any light on this?

No. Teams can only qualify for Eurpoean competition by achieving a qualifying position in their previos seasons domestic competition. UEFA will not accept substitutes, this was clarified several times, especially last year when Derry were the only club to get an A License and some of their more "optimistic" fans thought they would got from relegation playoff to Champions league.

In the Irish league last season Distillery had qualified for the inter toto but didn't get the required licence and Ballymena took their place.

Longford qualified through the cup so I don't know if Waterford would take their place or would it revert back to the league.

    Hopefully it won't arise anyway.

Shouldn't that be on the Jim Roddy thread?

    Now now Macy

It appears that we have had a point, saying they ahd to change the rules in order to ensure the same thing couldn't happen again.

Is this just just for club level - i am recalling when Denmark got in the back door to the 92 euro championships (and won it) on a technicality because of the war in yugoslavia! How sure are you Mr T?
