I must say I'm shocked, I didnt expect it to pass.
Ireland vs FranceAnd Robbie Keane scores into the Hil 16 end!!
I must say I'm shocked, I didnt expect it to pass.
"Jacques Santini...will be greeted in every dugout of the country by "one-nil, one-nil" - Clive Tyldsley, 89th minute of France-England June 13, 2004.
"Ooooohhhh Nooooooo" Bobby Robson 91st minute.
Also decided today was the installation of floodlights at Croke park. Not sure of the timescale but good news all the same
The final result was 227 to 97 for temporary change.![]()
Already decided today:
- Floodlighting coming to Croke Park, and with the possibility of a retractable roof.
Retractable roof? Do they have a cover over the hill? How would that work?
As for the rule, 4 votes more than needed. Close!! Still its a temporary measure until Lansdowne is built, so never build Lansdowne![]()
227 for, 97 against. Nice maths.Originally Posted by Gareth

Dont get too carried away guys, they have to start to re develop landsdowne for this to take effect. The only way to fudge it is to start the demolition and then find some asbestos that will take 20 years to remove :-)Originally Posted by Gareth
2/3 majority. The majority was met by +8 or so votes. Nice research Eirebhoy.Originally Posted by eirebhoy

Nicky Brennan also elected president, not a good day for the No camp
I hope we don't sell out and play the France game there, only play there when we can't play at home. Our record in Lansdowne is too good to throw away for a bigger stadium.
Great news though, Shels to sell Tolka, pocket the cash and move in!?![]()
is he a moderate, with the times sort of a fella?
I believe that if a team is good enough they should be able to play anywhere. We would get double the amount of supporters into Croker and double the noise hopefully, this can only be a good thing surely!Originally Posted by Slash/ED
Playing in a a huge stadium, of much higher quality than the current kip, surely can only provide a lift to the fans and the team. Having struggled ot get tickets at Lansdown in the past i think this is good news and not selling out at all.Originally Posted by supasparx

We've lost one competitive match in a over a decade of football in Lansdowne road, consider our record outside of Lansdowne Road. It smacks of Arsenal useing Wembley in Europe and I'd be sick if we did it for the France game,. and I know Kerr doesn't want it too.
Cant see that happening, the re developemnt is not due to start until next year at the earliestOriginally Posted by Slash/ED
So when will the first soccer intl be played? I thought that Lansdowne was not scheduled to be redeveloped until 2006 but is there a chance the autumn intls will be at Croker? RTE radio has said first game will be French game but now I'm confused.
The only way the France game could be played is if the re development was moved forward which is highly unlikely, remeber negotiations have yet to begin on cost and this motion just empowers central council, they can still decide on whether to allow the use of croker or not as the case may be.Originally Posted by Stuttgart88
Thanks. While this is great news I'd prefer France & Swiss games to be at Lansdowne. Listening to RTE Radio in my SKY Digital TV from London. Very exciting. Momentous day.
