Sickening clash of heads at Finn Park totally sucked any bit of life out of the game. Harps denied a perfectly good goal just before Sligo scored too. I felt the game should have been abandoned after 20 minutes of the major injury on the pitch. Serious amount of blood left lying on the pitch that had to be attempted to be washed away by a steward.
Not particularly bothered about the result, a cup run would have been nice, but league survival is more important.
Early indications that both Harry Doherty and Packie Mailey are alert and on their feet in Letterkenny Hospital which is great news, but has yet to be confirmed by any official source.

Just seen the photo alright. Very relieving.

Couple of images from Finn Park tonight showing the extent of the injuries to Packie Mailey and Harry Doherty. Photos from Gerard McHugh photography.

its the furthest we have gone in the league cup since the 14 season when we lost to Bohs in the quarters in Flancare. If we somehow get through 05 was the last time we reached the semis in the league cup when we lost in the Brandywell.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
Anyone know when the next round is,and also the draw?
On an unrelated note, has the cheese slid off Stephen Kenny's cracker?
Draw apparently at 5pm tomorrow; quarters to be played on Monday May 1 (bank holiday) as per original season fixture list
"Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins."
"Homer Simpson, smiling politely."
The cheese has slipped off his cracker for sure.
Dundalk v Waterford
Sligo Rovers v Galway United
Shamrock Rovers v Longford Town
Cork City v St. Patrick's Athletic
Would've taken any home draw, so I'm happy with that
Home draw and a useful workout for fringe players and those looking for match fitness.
Might go to that one depending on kick off time. Tallaght is the closest league ground to me. There's a direct bus too
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
Seemed like the right thread for this...
All too forgotten on match night, the 54 Crew pay tribute to the medical staff who looked after the three injured parties on Monday night in the EA Sports Cup game with Sligo, including Sligos own physio who rushed onto the pitch to help the injured Harps players.

It looks like a "big club" is going to lift the trophy this season unless somehow Longford shock Rovers in Tallaght tomorrow night.
Cork, Dundalk and Galway all qualified for the semis today. Galway Reserves getting through on penalties against Sligo's first team.
Anyone know when the semi-finals are scheduled for?
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"
Comfortable win for Dundalk this evening.we were poor enough 1st half, lacklustre, but better 2nd and result was never in doubt once we hit the front.
Still not in any great form though and a few players passengers.
Decent crowd made it up from Waterford and sung and supported right to end.fair play to them.
Sligo are poor. We put out our reserves/kids today, we made a total of 9 changes from Dundalk and they played a full strength team bar maybe Rodden? We still knocked them out.
roddy collins you're a flanker you're a flanker!
